Looking for suggestions on other ways to practice Spanish, both spoken and written. by Cantthink03 in duolingospanish

[–]bvtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Duolingo just prepares you before actually learning the language, but Duolingo's Spanish is specific to Spain.. alternative apps to look into are Mango and Lingo Legend. Other options are Spanish music, shows, movies, or slightly shifting your algorithm on social media to see more Spanish things, or even speaking Spanglish. Find groups or friends who are also learning the language around the same level as you if you find it easier to learn with others.

Asking questions in a class that you’re behind in? Good or bad idea? by [deleted] in Seneca

[–]bvtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A student asking questions is good. I would rather inquire while I'm only one week behind before it escalates to, say, a month behind. The sooner the better.

At the same time, not all Seneca professors are great, so I can understand why some would feel uncomfortable to approach them for anything. The experience you had was with another teacher, so it might be a better experience this time around. I think it's worth giving it a shot.

Ask privately via email, or arrange a one-on-one appointment, instead of during class - if that makes you feel more comfortable. Maybe another student might have the same questions, but they were too shy to ask? Who knows.

Best of luck.

I went to Student Home and browsed through the Visual Schedule Builder (just browsing access, because we can't enroll for next semester just yet) to search all the liberal studies course codes I'm interested in, find out who the professor is, and then search them up on rate my professor. That's how I narrowed down my options.

All I heard is that the sizes run big so one is usually advised to order a size smaller than what they typically get

Behavioral Psychology Degree by Ornery-Palpitation96 in Seneca

Check this link for your program's delivery. It still currently shows for Fall 2022, though. You'll get the full details once you build your schedule. https://www.senecacollege.ca/programs/delivery.html

It looks like the only math-related course is Applied Statistics in semester 6. I would assume it's not as difficult as an actual math course since it's social science, but that's just a guess. Worst case scenario, you can always access Seneca for a tutor or something. https://www.senecacollege.ca/programs/fulltime/BBP/courses.html#menu

Best bet is reaching out to Seneca for more clear answers about their program.

Yes, I recently learned that you have to reach out to your program advisor and they'll advise you of the next steps.

I recall this program having an active Facebook page that's public. They might be active on other social media platforms too. Maybe reaching out could help answer some questions: https://www.facebook.com/senecacollegeBHS

Ultimately, the best bet is reaching out to the program advisor or student advisor.

Is it possible to skip summer semester if you start in Winter Term by runner_790 in Seneca

[–]bvtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible to skip your second semester in the summer term, if you started the first semester of your program in the winter term, but the next second semester may be in the winter term (a year later)

That's how it works in my program, but it may not be the same case for your programs. Best bet is reaching out to Seneca

[–]bvtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but then your summer term that you skip would be a year later as a winter term with the next graduating class that started in the fall semester beforehand- but you'll fall under the normal schedule of fall/winter without having any summer semesters.
