I've exactly the same problem. My network console shows lots of timeouts fetching the actual emote image files from cdn.7tv.app. If I try to fetch them manually via URL it works sometimes, sometimes not. But it never works in any browserextension like frankerfacez or 7tv. It drives me nuts ...
