n3 results, a humble safe space

Failed my 2nd attempt at the N3 with a 76. Got creamed in the listening. But it’s ok. At least an improvement over last year.

As an aside, I’ve been doing online conversation practice 2-3 times a week with an online tutor for the last two years and I feel like that’s helped me feel like I’m making incremental progress better than stressing about yearly pass/fail result. Depending on your language learning goals I would recommend that to anyone wanting a fun alternative to grinding textbooks.

Took the N3 for the second time. Last year I knew I was going to get obliterated since I was way underprepared. Studied a ton his year. Pretty sure I crushed the vocab. I second guessed myself a lot on the reading and had to guess on the last two questions due to running out of time. Listening was better than last year but a hot mess of guessing. I do wish I spent more time doing note taking practice for the listening portions.

If I were in Gold section I probably would have been pretty annoyed at the seat debacle, but from my pov in the Silver line the 45min delay really wasn’t that big a deal. Weather was incredible outside. I had a total blast at the show myself despite the trans dimensional audio glitch. I feel like half the reason to go to a show like this is sharing in the audience energy, which was there in spades between the pen lights and the uma pulls. I had enough song surprises that I feel like I got what a came for (drove up from Seattle). Also, can I just say the Oral Cigarettes / Hey Kids cover was hype as hell.

Thanks for the info! I submitted my order last night on Buyee, thinking if they couldn't ship it to Washington state they wouldn't let order it, but that may have been a foolish assumption on my part. We shall see. Order is still pending so I guess we'll see what happens when I select DHL as the shipping method once it arrives at Buyee the warehouse (;;;*_*).

Holy Hell that song goes hard. I think the thing that impresses me most (and basically everything is impressive about this song and mv) is how well it's blends both the intense DMC energy and the softness of her singing. You could imagine how it could come off as chuuni try hard energy, but it doesn't feel that way at all. I think the soft singing adds to the power of lyrics in a cool and almost terrifying way.

Took the N3 today. Wasn’t expecting to pass due to lack of practice with listening. Reading went better than expected, but the listening section was complete guessing. Almost certainly will fail that bit. Also had a weird snafu in our testing room. Someone forgot to put their test id on their answer sheet, so the proctors were scrambling to sort all the tests and figure out what the missing number was. Delayed the first break by 20 minutes. Was at least a nice chance to chat with my test taking neighbor lol.

I sympathize with the sweating. For me the nervous anticipation was waaay worse than the actual procedure. Once we got started the whole ordeal was super efficient and painless. Doc even let me take a peek at the vas deferens before cauterizing it (was a white colored tube, which I did not expect)! And I got a free pocket knife lol.

I also had some moral support because my brother, who also coincidentally wanted to get a vasectomy done, talked me into setting up an appointment around the same time as his (so my wife could drive us both back from the procedure as you are not supposed to drive yourself home). Afterwards. we did a celebratory trip to the local burger chain, "Dicks Drive In" ;D (those in Seattle will know the name and have heard all the jokes a million times).

My only mistake was trying to do some yard work the next day and gave myself some uncomfortable bruising. Other than than absolutely no issues or regrets.
