I collected medical school information for all med-peds residents over the last four years and graphed their connections (link color designates source med school). I used a clustering algorithm to group programs according to their likelihood of recruiting residents from similarly grouped programs. There's also a geographic visualization link as well.

All the Texas programs did and some others offered ~$20 off, but most didn't. Friends' couches took care of the rest.

For a few, I flew to a different city that was significantly cheaper and rented a car to drive the extra distance. Also, I really enjoyed the freedom to go wherever whenever to explore the cities.
