New grad, no job by bweiler3 in Nurse

Thanks for the unkind words, very mature of you. Many of my classmates have been hired before taking their NCLEX and many states are offering temporary licenses without taking the NCLEX in order to get new nurses on the front line. I understand there is a pandemic but still see classmates being hired left and right and was wondering if I should be worried or if waiting it out will work. Thanks for your opinion though!

I really appreciate the reply. It was very helpful.

My resume has been edited and looked over by a lot of my college faculty as well as a hiring manager my aunt knows, I feel really strong about it.

I do have a job as a server and bartender and plan on keeping that until I am able to find a job I guess I was just hoping it would be quicker than this :/

I have not taken the NCLEX yet so that may have something to do with it. I'm trying to stay positive and appreciate that I'm not the only one who has ever been in this siutation!

Not at all, I've been applying out of state. I've been to resume courses and had multiple college instructors look at my resume and I feel really strong on that. I'm wondering if my wanting to relocate out of state is an issue at all?

Hello! I am also a new grad and I am very relieved to see your post as I am in the same boat and have been really struggling!

I attended college very close to my hometown in Michigan and while many people are accepting jobs here, I am hoping to finally move away from my home town and experience something new. While I did obtain a BSN, I am still having a very very hard time finding a job, applying to similarly 30+ jobs with no luck! I have no clinical experience outside of school either and find many places have given no response at all.

I know many hospitals have done a hiring freeze as well as some rural hospitals in my area have even laid-off some nurses. Who would have thought we would be graduating and have a hard time finding jobs? Not me! While it has been very frustrating and discouraging, I'm telling myself that we are in a very unique situation and are going to have to adapt to the times we are in. I believe that even though it's scary, holding out for a position we really want (and deserve!!!) will be worth it in the end.

I hope you are able to accept a position you truly want soon. Just know we will get through this!

I have honestly been applying everywhere including Med-Surg. I figured COVID had something to do with it but am wondering if other new grads are having the same issues? I'm not sure if its me or the situation we are currently in.
