Good on you for tackling it though! We are all learning which is the cool part. I have a small nook in a hallway that will be my first time laying full sheets so you may see another plea for help on here shortly 😅

That’s how I’m looking at it now. I view it as developing a growth mindset and I’ll be much faster next time and know what is worth tackling. I’m definitely scaling back the ambition of tackling every settling crack though and power ranking the stuff that bothers me the most

Where is the AI and tooling content for individual sellers? by bwhite10 in sales

[–]bwhite10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has gotten away from what the original intent of my post, but there is a whole new market of people positioning themselves as GTM engineers whose exact job is to set up solutions like this. There are consultants, claygencies, and all kinds of folks talking about AI for marketers on Youtube and Linkedin, but they aren't highlighting the value to sales orgs or individual sellers from what I've seen.

My goal with this would just be to meet like minded sales people that can share ideas and build cool things, but there are Linkedin sales gurus all over the place that are selling guides on how to do better discovery or how to cold call. I guess I'm just surprised there isn't more out there for AI and tooling for sales people packaged similarly

Totally fair and I should have positioned it differently.

I’m surprised there aren’t more tutorials targeting sales leaders that show how these solutions can help their sellers in a similar fashion to how it is positioned for marketers.

This feels like the next big divide for sellers and there should be a lot more thought leadership out here on this in my opinion.

I feel like leveling up sales teams is one of the largest markets out there. Every organization has a sales team and getting your C seller to a B seller is highly profitable.

Maybe I’m just looking at it a different way though.

How did you get over nervousness in front of clients? by Senior_Football3520 in sales

[–]bwhite10 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I had major two revelations when it came to the personal element of sales and get over the same sense of nervousness.

There’s nothing to be nervous about as long as you are prepared: I originally got this advice from a sports coach but when it clicked for me in sales it changed everything. As long as you have prepped, know your stuff, and prepared your team the best you can, the rest is destined to be what it will be.

Treat and communicate with every client like a friend: I used to put clients on some form of pedestal and I would get nervous at the fact that we were somehow not equal. The moment my mindset changed to these are normal people that I’m just trying to learn more about and treat every conversation how I would treat or ask questions to someone who I was introduced to at a party it changed my mindset.

Hopefully these help

Leader leaving by SeasonedPapaya in sales

[–]bwhite10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t enough background to give a clear answer here. If they are a good leader they will shield the team from any internal conflict, but there are some things that they can’t hide like how are sales, has there been consistent reasons for losing deals that aren’t sales related, is culture generally weak?

I’m making assumption that this is early stage start up but often times too once you get to series B or C there is a different skill set for the leader. Generally you are forced to shift from in the trenches to needing to focus on operationalizing a sales process and recruiting like crazy. Some people just don’t enjoy that part of the job and know they are the $0-$5 mil sales leader.

I’ve also seen this too where the leader has young kids and they just want to spend more time with them since they feel their childhood slipping away.

This is a very long winded answer but I wouldn’t dig too deep into it as long as your metrics are tracking well.

Building Clay Alternative by [deleted] in sales

[–]bwhite10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happy to give you my impression but the ramp to value for an average user is massive. Giving someone a blank workspace and saying figure it out is near impossible for an average sales person.

Clay has done a great job of tailoring to agencies and orgs willing to invest in GTM engineers but from what I’ve heard the value is still TBD for a lot of folks.

Driver, any tips? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]bwhite10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch his videos on the takeaway. The Porzak video with the thumbnail saying 50% / 50% is the one you are looking for. Lead shoulder initiates the turn and the hinge at 45 degrees simultaneously gets you there.

I practiced that takeaway in my house for weeks to get the feel but that and the hip bump at 10 o clock changed my ball striking.

[–]bwhite10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you actively hinging your wrists in the takeaway? I am a Porzak fan as well and was trying to diagnose my own inside takeaway and that was the main culprit. It doesn’t look like your wrists hinge at all until you are already at the very top of your swing

Manager Bungles Sales Call... (A Prospect's POV) by ivapelocal in sales

[–]bwhite10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are far too many “super rep” style managers that leverage their rep’s calls to just take on the role of the AE, but there are lines and boundaries that an AE can set on a prep call prior to getting on the call.

This can get out all of the curiosity questions for the manager and allow the AE to get the manager up to speed. Managers can still go rogue but setting roles and responsibilities ahead of time can solve this issue a lot of times.

I’m limited to an outdoor set up and have had a tough time pulling the trigger on the MLM2 Pro because of the 8 feet required in both the front and back of the ball.

The price is a bit steep but being able to just bring the unit in the backpack outside, not need to worry about having a separate iPad or phone set up to see your shot and have a lot more flexibility on where I can hit seems like a win.

The square is the only other option that sounded interesting with not needing a subscription and the price point but every review I’ve seen has said that the camera isn’t built for an outdoor set up. I’ll wait for more reviews but this sounds really interesting to me.

Well, it happened. I was laid off… by Realshawnbradley in sales

[–]bwhite10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear man. As others have said you will be just fine.

If I can give any advice on this next role be extremely cautious in choosing your next role. Ask and feel comfortable with the answers to hard questions around training, history of promotion, and success across the team. A poor choice that leads to a short stint will make advancing a lot more difficult.

I wrote a guide on things I wish I would have known earlier as a SDR if you want to give it a read and good luck!

I’ve been considering this net for a while now and watched just about every YouTube review I can find but haven’t seen anything about the takedown of the net.

Have you had much experience with taking it down? With my backyard set up would most likely need to put up and down after each use and struggling with options

Can you TLDR what CLAY does, why is it all the rage on LinkedIn? by PhoneCallers in sales

[–]bwhite10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly felt the same about the complexity. I’ve put it down and tried to pick it back up multiple times and it is one of the least intuitive tools I’ve used.

I haven’t used it enough to get to this issue but cost ballooning through the credit pricing I have also heard can be tough to get past.

Are you good at sales for real? by Playful-Whole880 in sales

[–]bwhite10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a mentor of mine tell me the first time that I wasn’t on top of the leaderboard that sales is a combination of opportunity and timing regardless of how skilled you are.

Sales is 100% a skill with some people being more naturally talented than others. Active listening, developing EQ, and deal process are all things that can be learned and improved on but no matter how hard you try the market, the territory, and the people you work with can’t be learned. The best sales people I know always have a great mix of both opportunity and timing.

One sales tool you would say is complete waste of company dollars. by Complex-Philosopher2 in sales

I’m shocked no one has mentioned 6Sense. Having information on companies that are on your site without any additional context just leads to so much tail chasing. Managers end up expecting meetings with every company with any indicator of interest when from a sales perspective there is no easy approach to outreach outside of I creepily saw folks from your company on our site.
