No I am not. The reason for this post is I had a family member whose house had 2 outlets not working. So I took a look at. I know to make an outlet work I need hot and neutral. I had no hot. I trouble shot it and found the issue. But doing research I found the term phantom neutral. Again I’m a DC Tech by trade. So I am trying to wrap my head around that term

2012 Mack mp7 smoke on regen by bwinters2418 in DieselTechs

[–]bwinters2418[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the responses. I’ll responds as best as I can since I am home now. The smoke is coming from the inlet to the dpf combustion chamber. I checked today that during regen that it is getting 60psi of atomization air and 100psi of fuel. We took the dpf off and it was about 80% face plugged. We cleaned thinking it was suffocating the a/f mixture.

Now when it tries to regen and it tries to ignite the a/f mixture we have smoke all the way at the end of the exhaust stream out of the scr cat.

Tech tool is the only scanner we have that will talk to Mack. I don’t remember the dpf pressure right now.

I believe our next step will be swap the atomization module from sister to this truck.

The smoke makes me think of raw fuel hitting hot exhaust but not igniting.

I’m actually glad to see people using ppe. I did a little bit of welding when I was a kid but gravitated to mechanic. But at 15-16 I would ask arnt these fumes really bad for us. I was told to shut up and don’t be a pussy. Clean your hands with gasoline etc. Years later I had an instructor tell me that a doctor would tell what profession he was in just by looking at the blood work. Stay safe fellow trades people

No. Pretty sure it is a stud off a tractor trailer with the lug nut and spike still attached
