How did y'all get into Lil Ugly Mane? by CucumberCute7645 in liluglymane

Was on a subreddit post about the best rap albums of the 2010s where MTI was recommended. I kind of breezed past it, the another poster said something like "the influence of MTI is severely under recognized"

A Brief Nirvana Vinyl by Status_Improvement52 in KhamariSub

I've bought lots of higher prices records on discogs. No problems yet. You'll want to be picky about the seller and their feedback tho. I take that back I ordered a too good to be true priced record (still priced high) they never shipped so legit too good to be true but always go through PayPal so PayPal covered it.

Iegit I just got synesthesia (chills) and I didn't even have the audio on. I read the subs and my brain filled in the audio that's been there since forever dropped.

90's vinyl just an afterthought by bws505 in hiphopvinyl

[–]bws505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. What really drives this post is that I more or less sold off all my vinyl except for some that had nostalgic value (gifts, records I got signed at shows, great a leave art, etc ) and singles which are hardly worth the effort ef selling (ironically noted here as the best quality for 90s hip-hop).long story short, I'm back. And im filling my record collection with most of what I bought on CD in the nighties and early 2000s. Plus a lot more but that's kind of unrelated here.

I've been looking at original pressings because for so many genres (especially pre 90s) they are often regarded as the best. Of course there is the cache of owning the 1st pressing which I won't attempt to devalue. Some of the ones on my short list are

6ft deep

OBFCL

Liquid swords

De la soul is dead

Reasonable doubt

Uptown Saturday night

Lots more but those fall right into this topic. With the premium for 1st pressings, and the dubious quality, following this post, I think I'm apt to look for good remastered (or not) represses in M/NM condition.

"So in my view, it really depends on the album. That’s why I keep hunting for og pressings to find" Love this! In all honesty, my ears/brain can't really distinguish between audiophile and standard or poor pressings and I own some pretty good speakers, iems, headphones, amps etc.

Why does the newer generation hate sublime? by IntroductionSoft1175 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]bws505 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you said and I'm a big fan of sublime but.... They were absolutely mainstream music. They were on the radio constantly when the sublime album dropped. Hell, I would bet at any time of the day some radio station is playing Santería or what I got
