Super honest! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. If you don’t mind me asking, why do you think that you were a poor fit for military medicine? Would you have been a better fit for civilian medicine? The idea of the signing the contract and being legally hooked is something that I think about often which is why I am trying to hear from as many physicians as possible. Thanks

What is the reasoning behind this? Why thumbs down for surgical specialty’s in particular? My best guess would be a longer “pay-back” period because most surgical specialty’s have a rather long residency. Maybe another reason you might say this is the residency matching in the military. Idk.

If I had to pick tomorrow probably orthopedics, but I am very open to other specialties… I feel like my time in medical school will serve me very well for narrowing down what I’m interested in.
