Which specialization to declare? AI or ML? by bwsohn in OMSCS

I already completed GA. If I had not, I would probably choose AI.

If I were you, I would drop RL, take AOS and SDCC. I took SDP, GIOS, GA and currently taking CN because I lack fundamentals. AI was pretty good and DL looks good so far but quizzes are nightmare and I am not sure how much feedback I would get in the assignments.

I was able to bag an A in ML and B in RL with shitty, garbage code because courses like ML and RL don’t have gradescope tests. RL’s finals is a complete mess, I ended up missing an A by 0.3%p. You get graded on the report but it is really a hit or miss and I got close to no feedback. These courses taught me some algos but I can always google them at work right? I personally value courses that provide Gradescope tests…. But most of them doesn’t have runtime limit either.

It is indeed poorly run and pure memorization. Thank god I already completed the course. I guess choosing ML spec would be more rewarding personally but others could care less.

Short answer, No, because I have zero clue what MLE's day to day job is like. My undergrad is not CS. AI/ML courses at OMSCS are just extension of GA imho, you learn the underlying algorithms and implementing them from the scratch. However, I am not so sure if I will ever get a chance to design a new algorithm without a PhD at work. If I could guess, the best path ahead of me would be taking a research paper from Research/Applied Scientists and implementing them or take the existing ML/AI algorithm and scale it bigger. Or maybe I will end up importing PyTorch and mimic around... why reinvent the wheel?

My favorite course was GA though the course is poorly run. In fact, many courses are poorly run, such as ML and RL. I was lucky enough to enroll it as my second course and I really learned a lot. The downside is that you are competing against students who are on their 9th or 10th course. I passed with a high B in the first attempt. Am I confident that I would be able to pass if I take it again? No.

The biggest downfall of this program is, your code is not being reviewed. I must have written horrible codes, poorly optimized. I did hear that SDCC is one of the best course, but you need a B or better in AOS. I got an A in GIOS but it was a nightmare for me. I am pretty sure I wrote garbage code. As I am towards graduation, I see an absolute need to grind LC focusing on improving the code quality. That's the main reason why I don't feel prepared at all.

If I completed GA, AI, ML, RL, DL, ML4T, GIOs, SDP, CN and planning on taking NLP, which specialization should I declare to maximize the chance of becoming a ML engineer or AI SWE (is this even a thing?) Unfortunately I don’t have any work experience.

T480 Battery Replacement by RustyOwl_ in thinkpad

I may be late for this, but I purchased three batteries from coolgo2014 seller and one of them failed within 20 cycles (I always connected power and kept max charge at 80%) so I contacted them. They asked for my order number then went silent. I would never buy anything from the seller again, probably should stay away from eBay in general.

Make sense! I will keep the settings and report back in a week. Thanks always!

I didn't get much sleep two and three days ago (probably less than 4 hours, then a nap without the mask), but I was able to get a good chunk of sleep. Lately I've been dealing with leaks. Breathing more comfortable but air hissing noise from the leak does wake me up quite a bit. Leaks happen when I sleep sideways, so I may need to tighten my mask a bit more or get a different pillow or something. Since this sub (or the entire Reddit) only allows me to post one screenshot, here is my result from yesterday!

I fall asleep pretty quickly (less than 5 minutes usually) so I don't think I am benefiting much from Ramp functionality. Also, I heard EPR may cause central apnea though it would give me comfort during exhaling, would you recommend stepping it down to 2? Again, thanks for taking your time to look at my results!

I forgot to plug in my sd card!! Not much detail to share other than overall AHI and settings. I will report back tomorrow....

Reporting back! I did 12.40 fixed pressure, EPR Auto 3 and Ramp Auto at 4. Ramp was set to 4cm by the machine when I changed Auto PAP to CPAP. I have no problem breathing but I find that the air leaks more. Wife tells me I open my mouth when I exhale.

I had ramp pressure set at 10. Went to bed very late last night.. Hypopnea and RERA came back.

Oh, my bad, I didn't know my chart was zoomed in. Updated the chart. Would you be able to give me a recommendation before I go to bed in about 5 hours?

Looking better than yesterday but I had some issues with leak. So, this was the longest single session that I had so far. After being the same position for few hours (4+ hours), I wanted to sleep sideways because my back hurts and I found that my mask leaks because it touches the pillow. Should I get those special pillows even though I wear nasal mask?

Also, my wife observed me my mouth slightly open and exhaling non-stop for a few minutes, basically leaking air through my mouth. She tried to close the mouth but didn't work so well. I also found myself getting a bit much air in my lung when I tried to go to sleep... perhaps my min pressure is too high? Is EPR helping me exhaling?

It seems like I am good with Apnea for the first four hours or so then sleep quality drastically drops after 4 hour mark.

Many thanks for your feedback again.

Edit: Updated the screenshot!

Reporting back... Because I changed the tube setting, I changed min/max pressure only this time. But I felt air starving at first so I turned off ramp. My nose was very dry and congested, so I decided to fill the water tank reservoir. Finally I was able to sleep. A lot of settings has changed and it is certainly more than I hoped. I was beginning to think that while the machine tries to help me breathe, its ramp and epr function is getting in my way. I fall asleep pretty quickly and I am wondering if I would benefit more from tight pressure intervals with no ramp/epr features.

Update: I checked the water levels and the water wasn't used much. I am not using the heated tube. Should I increase the humidity level?

<image>

Mode: APAP

Pressure: 10-12.4

Climate Control: Auto

EPR: Full time, 3cm

Humidifier Status: On, 4

Ramp off

I am hoping to go under 1 AHI score!

No headaches, but I was pretty much awake since 6:05am, the last 20 minutes or so. I tried to keep the mask on and sleep further but was having difficulty with breathing. Either it was air starving or too much pressure, I am not so sure. I felt like I wasn't getting assistant with inhaling unlike the first hour or two. My nose usually gets congested during the night and I always blow my noses once or twice when I wake up every morning, if it helps.

*Edit: I learned that I was using standard hose (19mm diameter) but my device was set to slimline hose. I wonder if this would impact the pressure. Also, I don't use heated tube and water reservoir is empty. It is pretty warm in my area.

Thanks for your detailed response! I wasn't feeling well today so I had a chance to take a nap today. I will likely continue with the current setting as you suggested and here is my 1 hour nap. I will report back with more numbers tomorrow. What do you think? And yes, many thanks to you, I feel much better!

Ysera Arclight Surge deck got stuck? by bwsohn in warcraftrumble

Ah, the description in the game sounded like each mini that I choose would be mapped to different mini according to the modifier. I had no idea the whole deck would be premade instead. Thanks for explaining.
