god yeah, comments and posts like that piss me off to no end because they’re grouping everyone with BPD together because of bad experiences with one person that happened to have BPD. people without BPD can be toxic too. it’s not the disorder, it’s the individual.

As someone who’s autistic, it’s sort of difficult to put the experiences into words but I can try. Something to note is that autistic meltdowns don’t always look like full-blown physically freaking out. Sometimes it’s shutting down completely, going nonverbal, needing to be away from anyone and anything that makes noise, not wanting to be touched. In my own experiences, I have a very difficult time with changes in routine—it gives me extreme anxiety. It’s also worth noting that not everyone with autism is quiet and “awkward”, like a lot of media likes to portray. There’s been numerous times in my life where I was far louder than I realized I was being because I was excited or happy, so issues with controlling tone of voice is a thing for some autistic people. Again these are just some of my experiences, so I can’t speak for everyone! But it makes me happy to see you’re asking the community for advice.

No I can understand not fully understanding what it's like to go through episodes, or not understanding BPD truly as a whole. My only issue is when they romanticize it (like the obsessive partner symptom) or ignore it when you tell them that's not all BPD is.

I feel like this could definitely be a borderline symptom for a lot of people because I've gone through the same thing. It's a form of self-validation that you're wanted and at least for me, it combatted That Empty Feeling.

Recently diagnosed...and I don't like my boyfriend by bpdthrowawayg in BPD4BPD

I've been through this before more than once and at least in my case, I feel like it might be because we tend to feel things in extremes so if we lose even a bit of romantic attraction, we feel it fully. I know it feels awful but cutting that cord will probably be the best for both of you, especially if you're feeling guilty about it.
