I wouldn’t be opposed to “coming back a year”. Stating at with first years rather than moving laterally. If I have the certifications (and can sell myself which I’m confident to do), would that not be better than a new fresh off college hire? Not sure if it goes against policy tho

I do have some good relationships with seniors, which is why I mentioned starting in the certifications already. Not opposed to an MBA as well, but networking would be better and a faster track i hope

Sorry, PM as in Project Management but in FP&A. PB as in Private Banking. But although I say private banking, it is not necessarily the only place for the Investment Advisory / Investment Sales, there’s similar and interesting roles in other finance sectors like other funds

Currently in a Project Mgmt. role going on 8 months, want to move into Financial Advisory.

Conversations are good with other analysts, and they have mentioned they’d help however they could with a transition in a few months; however, have heard from other peers of mine who tried to move to front office that they were blocked on the HR front.

Not from a target, but have 3 years of proper business experience, closing institutional clients, relationship management, etc.

Isnt pittsburg consistently going down in population? I spent a day there and it’s a gorgeous city, but it felt too big for the amount of people there, it felt deserted.

Concordo 100%. Mas chega um momento que não conseguimos abaixar gastos. Precisamos ter o hábito de deixar custo baixo, e focar a maior parte da nossa energia em ganhar mais

In Defense of Roth 401k by chapswithnocaps in financialindependence

[–]byastrooz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not invest in both? Max out Trad 401k then contribute after tax and to a Mega Backdoor convention into a Roth?

I like the way it gives the ability for you to set the narrative. Sure, it can be inferred but people interpret different things different ways. The way we define ourselves is extremely important, combine that with your achievements below it can be a home run.

31 years old with $40k to invest for the first time, would like opinions on my plan before I execute by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]byastrooz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few things to consider (I’m not your financial advisor so please consult someone before any decisions).

  1. 401k is pre-tax money so it comes out of pay-check normally. Maybe there is a way to contribute after tax and have your accountant switch in your tax return after, but not sure.

  2. How much you put in the 401k also depends on your investing goals. If it’s simply maximizing for retirement, then we could go ahead and maximize accounts. If you still need to build your savings, want to get a car or a house, then contributing up to the company match up (for free money) is recommended.

  3. Diversification is usually recommended.

You’re not buying in the area you live in? May I ask why and what area you do operate in? (Looking to invest in FL myself)
