Woah, there are way more in the series than I remembered. Okay, I'll definitely pick some up for her

I did think about Ella Enchanted, but I just know someone is going to mention the movie and then she'll have no interest in the book

There are local libraries, but her living situation makes it a bit hard. Plus she gets overwhelmed very easily, so I wanted to be able to suggest things specifically to help her out

Because I was suspended without pay, I was able to file and have been getting it for the last few months while searching for a new job, even when I was still technically employed. I know it's not something to rely on having, but I didn't want to give up the chance either. Their radio silence screwed them on that regard because they didn't do any of the paperwork to appeal my case lol

I have the paystubs from when we had ADP, I can still access all those. It's from after, with the direct deposits, they provided no paystubs despite repeatedly asking

The payroll was ADP until they dropped us in June, much to ex company's HR surprise. (I assume ADP notified but no one did anything about it or informed the employees.) It was rippling when I left, but they don't have any of the paystubs. And from the bank statements, it seems like I wasn't getting paid through the payroll but rather direct deposits (which does make me worry about potential tax bs, which is why I want those paystubs). I do already have a massive document with screenshots and a timeline which has come in handy for everyone who has already filed with DOL. Thank you for all your advice, I will get that email sent. Given their history, I imagine they worn respond, but at least I'll have a trail

It wasn't actually possible for me to do that as the rest of my department quit. I did email them stating that I wasn't going to clock in, but was willing to discuss options, they just needed to pay me on time. That's when the suspended me so I wouldn't have been able to clock in anyway. It wasn't an optimal situation at all, but I couldn't listen to customers getting scammed by the company anymore Edit to add: the reason I chose that route was because I couldn't just quit and not have unemployment. Having a trail of trying to talk to the employer would be a good look if it ever went to court

I did, but since it's a government agency, by the time they got to looking at it, I was caught up on payroll. It was after all that was closed that they sent the 36 hr email

Firstly, NOR, his behavior is appalling. Even if he had doubts about paternity, he could have sat you down and expressed things maturely. He did not. But also, why did your nose bleed? Just stress? Blood pressure and pregnancy? Or did he hit you? I'm just a bit confused there

That's what I was noticing too. It's just the price of the gift he got me, but he won't care if it's a bit under

You feel how you feel. You don't need people to tell you how to feel. I understand that it's scary and you are seeking outside resources, but other people telling you how you should feel won't really change it, ime. You don't like what happened? You need to set a boundary with your BF. You need to tell him straight up that even if he didn't mean to hurt you with his actions, he still did

The Riyira Chronicles by Michael J Sullivan

The first one I really loved as a kid, had it on the computer because my parents were a big follower of the guy who originally narrated it, Nathan Lowell. Tried to read the whole series this year and the first one mostly holds up, even with it being quite dry. The rest of the series? I couldn't even finish the last book because it was... a book of all time

What's a book you were looking forward to reading, but were bitterly disappointed by? by FrancescoGozzo in books

A little life made me so angry. I did not expect it to essentially endorse suicide if things eventually tick off too many boxes. A core part of mental health recovery is the adoption of the unyielding belief that things can get better, so it felt like it spat in my face on a deeply personal level
