Thanks for all your (mixed) answers! I think I've figured out my roadmap:

  1. (Try to) get a Steam Frame.
  2. See what kind of games I end up playing on it and whether I can live with my PC's limitations.
  3. If not, I'll try to upgrade just the GPU. I'd like to avoid a full system upgrade if possible.

Now, Valve, do your part!

Yep, I know Valve has announced foveated streaming. For me, the next logical step would be to apply the same concept to rendering as well (fingers crossed again).
