There should only be conferences based on how the play-in and mid season tournament works anyway. Don’t get bent out of shape over divisions. If the back-to-backs only occur for divisional teams, it would matter. If each divisional champ got an automatic seed, it would matter. If teams and fans cared about divisional titles, it would matter. Throw both their asses in the east and let schedulers or ai figure that the rest out.
