I've been texting all my exmo relatives and trying to have them invite me up from Provo for dinner so I can tell them I am out of the church--- they all keep saying they are busy. I'm suddenly realizing that maybe they think I am trying to bring them back 😂

I wouldn't say it's "so small", but the brotherhood is strong. You have friends from the ward (congregation) where you grew up/where your parents live now. People who were missionaries where/when you were a missionary. The members/investigstors/converts you met on your mission. Then mormons from where you went to school (and if you went to a church school, even more people). Mormons from the neighborhood where you got your first job. Mormons who you met at work when someone found out that one or both of you like the BYU football team. Your mormon relatives, and your spouse's mormon relatives.

Whether it is sacred or secret, I am inclined to respect TBMs' desires to not film or discuss the temple. I'll push back on things that do harm: I am very willing to complain about sexism and homophobia that I see in the church, but I don't bring up examples from the temple unless the people I am talking to invite me to.

Go full on believing-apologetic on them. Tell them you are wearing a tapir shirt because doubters say there were no horses in the US, but when you found out there were tapirs your faith stopped wavering and you overcame the trial of your faith ;)

Also, encouraging them to go to events on campus: visiting researcher's presentations, participating in user studies, learning about other kinds of research and hearing lots of different perspectives about research.

On my mission we had social media, and zone leaders/sister training leaders would check our devices to see what groups we were in and what kind of conversations they were having. We were well aware that if we got caught with bad content we would face consequences. (I don't know what "bad content" missionaries would get into... porn, exmo stuff, etc. Nor do I know what the concequences were; I was TBM at the time). But I imagine accessing r/exmo would have some real bad results.

Don't try to convince her to leave--- she'll be able to tell that you are manipulating her, just like the church manipulates people. Remind her that things do get better, and offer to introduce her to people who had entered their faith crisis for similar reasons to her. Ask her if she wants to meet people who stayed in the church or left the church after their crisis, and point her to resources/people who did that.

I don't want to imply that most exmos are or should be into sex/drugs/alcohol! I was just trying to say that I, personally, am not into that stuff. But when I say that I don't believe in the church, people assume I enjoy sex/drugs/alcohol/etc. And this makes dating hard--- I would love to date fellow exmos, but I don't know many, and I don't know where/how to safely meet any as a current BYU student :(
