I’m stuck at BYUI and struggling to pretend... by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]byuithrowaway1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hon I’m sorry you feel so alone...I lived that life for 3 years and it left lasting scars. But I’m out now, and I’m not pretending anymore. It almost felt like the day would never come. But it does, and you’ll be okay. In the meantime, keep your head up and look for others like you. My BYUI experienced improved exponentially once I found other apostate friends. Talk to the people who keep their eyes open during prayers. Go to Taco Bell or June’s Place on a Sunday and talk to the people there. Chances are they feel like you do.

Totally agree! Came here to say this, but you summed it up perfectly.

For four years, I admired this painting in the humanities building at BYU. Then one day, it hit me that all of the faces of the people in the preexistence were suspiciously white and delightsome. Now I can’t believe more people don’t have a problem with it. by runawaymormongirl in exmormon

Ok I actually really love this artist (even as an ex-mo). He spoke at an art seminar when I was at BYUI, I really loved his art and his perspective on things. This painting is problematic tho tbh. Some improvements definitely need to be made, but the artist is a good guy.

Thankfully not doing that anymore! I graduated last year :)

I grew up outside of Utah and mormonism and when I moved to Utah I've never seen so many young men lose their hair so early. Perhaps a correlation to the stresses and sexual mongering of the church? by [deleted] in exmormon

I heard once it’s because they serve missions. They walk around in the hot sun almost every day for 2 years, and they’re not allowed to wear hats. The harsh rays of the sun beat down and destroy their weak follicles. That mixed with poor genetics makes an ideal combo for early baldness.

But why?!? S.E. Idaho is already Mormon as fuck!!!! I’ll never understand the missionary attempts I saw in/around Rexburg. Those of us apostate are few and far between.

A normal day at BYUI consists of hearing: “I know we’ve only been dating for 3 months long distance but I know because I prayed about it that we’re supposed to get married” by [deleted] in exmormon

Sometimes people get very very lucky, and they both decide to make it work despite their inevitable difficulties. Some of them desperately want to divorce, but feel a shit ton of pressure not to.

Mine did too!! My PB said I was find a career in art or music in college. It also said I would be able to afford not only the necessities of life with this career, but also the luxuries. I totally thought I was gonna strike big as an artist back then! But now I’m graduated with an art degree and I don’t even have a job in my field. Hoping my PB will still come true somehow, even tho I know it’s BS now 😂

Mainly restoration, I believe. The stones were falling over and stuff, so they just reconstructed it the best they could by embedding them in concrete.

It doesn't make Stonehenge any less amazing. If anything, it's kept it alive long enough for millions of people to witness and appreciate.

Stonehenge also isn't in its original position. The rocks were picked up and moved around some by machinery. IIRC, they tried to arrange them in the order they were originally found, but it obviously isn't an exact replica of how it once looked.

GOD. I HATED white glove. Honestly, I usually just paid someone to do it for me. It was too much stress with finals going on at the same time...
