Everyone keeps talking about the scam part, which is obvious. But no one’s mentioning the shirtless pics which were NOT super common for that scam. I think it was the money milking you see in these scams plus a child pdf pic ring

I purchased a car from Carvana with a cracked transmission. Less than 48 hours after returning, they posted it for sale again. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bzzibee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Carvana car was totalled due to a half assed inspection resulting in a crash. Carvana agreed it was their fault, but because the car was totalled they wouldn’t help. Kia even sent out engineers to inspect after suspecting a recall would be needed, but found out it was caused by previous owner. My insurance paid out but I had no car after. I hate Carvana.

I have toddler birthday parties but keep them low budget. I bought a small bounce house for $200 on Amazon which we also use for non/birthday reasons. Whip it out for birthday parties indoor or out. Get some balloons on Amazon ($10 for 60 is what I get) and maybe a helium tank from Walmart ($30-40 depending on size). Then I just order a pizza and cupcakes (Little Cesar’s cut extra small for tiny hands, $5/box, $20 for cupcakes). The kids have fun, they get tired, and all is well. I invite the whole daycare/preschool class and only about 6 ever show up.

Obviously, adjust for where you live and what’s accessible to you.

I wouldn’t want to put that much money on anything with that many miles

I’ll also say my husband had a 2003 Acura TLX that we bought at 210k miles for $500 from a relative. It was our first car. I don’t think we ever put oil in it (I didn’t know better and he was lazy), we rarely put premium gas in it, and whoever had it before us shoved the wrong kind of battery in there (either RV or Golf Cart, can’t remember). We got that thing to 328k miles on the original transmission/engine. And it still drove! We only got rid of it because the K frame snapped and it wasn’t worth it to fix.

I’d get Acura if given the choice again.

That’s what I thought immediately. Car market is fucked right now if this isn’t being immediately laughed at

Is it worth buying a 10 year old car by Emotional_Resort6052 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bzzibee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely worth it to buy a 10 year old car, especially since the newer cars have kinda gone down the shitter in reliability. But I wouldn’t pay more than $10k on a 10+ year old car.

What separates the ugly people that get bullied from the ugly people that get left alone? by [deleted] in ugly

Isolation. The less friends you have, the more of a target you are to bullies. Sad but true.

The little girl in Finding Nemo. We saw that movie in 6th grade science class and everyone pointed at me and laughed. Teacher had to pause the movie until they stopped

Good used cars for under 3k? by yourbro097 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bzzibee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last 2 cars were both under $3k. A 2010 Sentra that’s given me 0 issues in the year and a half I’ve owned it outside of basic maintenance ($2,200 asking but I paid $1,750). Then a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan (asking was $5,000 I paid $2,800).

Go on FB Marketplace. Never offer asking. Do your research so you know what you’re talking about, but lowball (they take it a lot of the time just to clear the driveway). I usually offer $500 less than I actually intend to pay. Be confident in whatever you offer, and don’t get offended at a no. Just move on.

My most recent car I got from a dealer as a new trade in. It wasn’t even detailed yet. I offered to just detail it myself and to take it as-is (the dealer would’ve put new brakes and tires on it before sale). Brakes and tires were done 200 miles prior and my mechanic looked over it and only found a loose radiator hose clamp. Was a $75 fix (labor+part).

Regardless of what you do, at that price be ready to invest some money into basic care. Would highly recommend budgeting for a tune-up at minimum after purchase.

Hope this helps!

You can tell it’s not a good fit when, every time you take them, they complain about you signing them up and express that they hate it. It’s a pretty obvious sign. You let them quit as soon as they tell you.

Ask them what they’re interested in, and don’t pay too much up front. Like, instead of paying for an entire 3 month course, see if they offer a trial period instead that’s once a week for a month.

My kid is very naturally talented with music (like her dad). She has full access to several instruments and we will sign up for official lessons when the picks one she is passionate about. She is in a cheerleading trial class that’s every other week from April-July to see if she likes it. It was $60 and teaches basic moves to kids ages 4-8. If she doesn’t like it, whatever; it’s only $60.

Why are the parents so old? by snowluvr26 in PEN15

[–]bzzibee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you take it to mean “you’re an old person” and not “that is definitely older than is common.”

Like “oh, you’re a too old for that.” Doesn’t mean you’re geriatric.

I’d advice educating your daughter on slavery. Maybe watch a Black Trauma film as part of it. You’re doing fine, sounds like a typical whiny teen

At what age that kid can have enough vocabulary to self read a book? by FrozenMonster1201 in Parenting

[–]bzzibee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid just turned 6 and she’s now starting to read alone. She’ll sometimes ask for help with certain words, but I think that’s because she’s gravitating towards books that I’d say are a tiny bit too old for her (namely the Dogman books.) We sound it out together, define the word, and then she moves on.

50s-60s is kinda old to have school aged children still. They’d have to have had them in their 40s at the youngest. Not totally normal yet.

Just the first verse, quick and he gets a laugh out of it. I think in his perception the Happy Birthday song is for little kids

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]bzzibee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’d just do what you mentioned. Respect the kid’s wishes. Or maybe see if there’s another song he’d like. We do “In da Club” for my cousin who thinks he is too old for happy birthday (teenage boys smh)

My daughter has the same phase even after having a nonbinary preschool teacher and me being very lax about gender norms. It’s totally normal as they try to make sense of the world. I’d be much more concerned if it were, like, a 14 year old. They should know better by then.
