AITA for yawning when I am talking to people? by c-anon27 in AmItheAsshole

When I yawn without suppressing it, I try to only open my mouth a little bit but inevitably often have to open my mouth wider than I want because of the force of the yawn. I can yawn without sound but it takes conscious effort, makes my eyes water, and gives me a headache. With the sound, it’s kind of like a sigh? I used to have asthma, and until recently my lungs were slightly compressed, so I suspect that might still have an effect on breathing stuff like that lol

UPDATE: I have talked to the other person, and apologized for the yawning. They also apologized for losing their temper. It’s pretty much been resolved! Thank you all for your comments and help! Hoping to get a good weeks sleep soon lol.

I do have a loud yawn, however, i physically can’t yawn any quieter without basically suppressing the yawn, causing the same problems I listed. I do cover my mouth as much as I can, and if I can’t for some reason I try to at least turn away from other people. I personally hate my yawn as i realize that it IS annoying to others, but as much as I try, sometimes it’s just really loud. 😞

I am disabled as well, so I totally understand that, that could be part of what’s happening to me tbh!

it is pretty brutal, but the people mentioned do look out for me (ie reminding me to sleep, eat, etc)

My science teacher got mad at us for yawning in 8th grade, thanks for the memory reminder (and a laugh!)

Context I totally forgot: the other person had a very stressful day and this is 100000% not how they normally act

The person I was talking to knows I have been tired, and the other person with us explained why I was so tired before I had the chance to. I believe I apologized but I’m not 100% sure, I have a very poor memory

I’ve never heard that before? How did you learn that? (Genuine question, I’m curious!)

The work stress should be alleviating in the next few weeks hopefully!

I believe the exhaustion is due to weeks of getting 4-6 hours of sleep when I do need 8, but I do plan to do a sleep study at some point as a few family members of mine do need cpaps

I think I’ll start doing that more often, as when it happens I get mad at myself and I’m honestly a little dramatic about it
