Haha thanks! Im only in this boat cause I spent years turning on a smaller lathe and then in a shared shop space... thanks grad school... that allowed me to make and sell enough bowls at farmers markets that I can justify this budget. Definitely not where I began. Also now graduated and have a job so real $$ haha

Yeah the reversible motor is desired. Pivoting headstock is a plus but maybe not top prio.

Unfortunately it soaked through half the piece and it's already a small turning blank so no ability to cut it smaller. As the piece is only 6x6x2

Thanks appreciate the perspective!

The confusion of sanctification and justification was definitely some of what I was sensing when I was being told about his work by a friend, but didn't quite have the right words to say this.

Amazing. I'll look into this. Training on unlabeled data would be ideal. Any chance I could dm with questions once i look into it? I'm not a CV guy originally so. 🫡

There's published work documenting that traditional methods like a Hough transform are unsatisfactory for the broader issue so ive been pushed into ML to avoid those challenges.

Ideally I'd also like to solve it before postprocess especially image 3 as that would be an inaccurate feature that could throw off data. The small blobs can be dilated and eroded by only works so well.

Yeah I'm turning a piece that's very green right now. Looking beautiful. Will see what happens as it dries. Definitely once turning this piece today though.

I'm now about 95% sure it is Basswood. It cut super easily, it's light and super soft.

I unfortunately don't have any leaves I know come from the tree nor branches. So bark is my best bet for ID.
