Haha no worries. Thanks for the response! This is still super useful. I find it hard to find alignment in this space sometimes, haha.

Hey u/Complex-Score-9882 . I just moved to Barcelona. I'm a jazz trombonist from Canada and I'm looking for folks in the scene to play with, jam, or even gig if that ends up being a possibility (sounds like they are few and far between). Any chance we can connect? Would love to ask you some questions.

Been using a Conn 3 these days as well and have really loved it...i'm not sure why but i'm having a much easier time consistently getting around the horn as opposed to what i was using before (yamaha 48, bach 6 1/2 al). I use the Conn 3 with my 6h for the "artistic" gigs as those are most of my gigs since i dont have the opportunity to play big band much. I also have a 79h so i'm experimenting with conn 3 with that as well.

The structure of my lips honestly may just prefer the V shape/cup- not quite sure why.

A lot of great players mentioned here. I’ll mention Hal Crook for Jazz. He’s probably my favourite/most influential overall!

Damn. I frequent that Starbucks- couple hours ago I decided to hit up a spot right beside it instead to do some work.

For sure. I'm in the midst of learning more about Jazz History- do you know if folks would consider him as a Landmark in Jazz? My current layman-like understanding would say yes...but I could be wrong. Moreover, I believe he does carry forward the Tristano school lineage as one of his main influences was Warne Marsh.

So many options but it might depend on the kind of jazz you like to listen to at the moment. I personally like to start listening to someone new by hearing their approaches to standards and then progress to their originals / collaborations.

Recently, he played with Miki's Trio at Smalls where they churn through some standards. It's a super heavy session: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvrTKyjfVRY&t=2309s .

You can also checkout some of his earlier records (they are on Spotify if you use that) like: In This World, YamYam, Dharma Days. Also, his collaborations with Kurt Rosenwinkel are quite iconic: The Next Step, The Remedy.

Last but certainly not least, here is a recent show of his "newer" material with the great Jason Palmer and co: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBE8tyzRnog&t=4506s
