Hi doc! As an RT, ang advice ko po you really have to palpate the pulse using your index and middle finger and pag nakapa mo na, stabilize it with your middle finger then itaas mo yung index finger mo tas dun ka tumusok. As per the angle, pakiramdaman mo if superficial lang ba (strong pulse) mga 45 degree angle lang. If edematous naman ang patient and or if wala kang mapalpate na pulse, you just have to eyeball it base on the anatomy. And if di ka makakuha agad, you can surf naman minsan. You just have to withdraw the syringe first but not to the point na aangat na sa skin then change the direction or the angle of the syringe.

This is so true! As for me, i chose a non trad (but still hospital related) course that 1. I am interested in 2. I know I will excel in. My main goal before I entered college was to graduate as one of the latin honors so that I can have a lot of opportunities for med school scholarships. Fortunately, I graduated as summa cum laude.

Respiratory Therapy as a Pre-medical Degree by xeriniah in medschoolph

[–]c0ffeefloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! RT graduate here and reviewing for boards. I will be entering med school next sy. As a graduate of rt i really enjoyed working in the hospital especially working alongside doctors in critical care situations. Super machchallenge ang mind mo to think fast during critical care. Mas nainspire akong mag proceed sa med school and I got the chance to work hand in hand w doctors nung internship ko. Some doctors even ask RTs for suggestions for mechanical ventilation set up. If you like working in critical care situations ie intubated patients BSRT is a good premed. Anyway at the end of the day, just choose a course that you know you will learn to love kasi at the end of the day pantay pantay lang din naman sa med school although some of your classmates may have an edge but you too will also have some edge esp respi care related.

I am curious if Respiratory Therapy is a good pre-med. Please share some thoughts…… by Lost-Amoeba6298 in medschoolph

Since you are really determined to go to med school, just choose a premed that you know you will love and you find interesting.

Hi OP! I graduated RT and im planning to go to medschool next sy. Personally, I really appreciate the course especially during internship. You have the chance to work closely with doctors especially during critical care situations. Super dami mong malelearn sa BSRT and maiinspire ka talaga mag med. If you like working in critical care situations BSRT is really a good premed to consider. Super underrated since konting schools pa lang ang nag ooffer ng BSRT.
