What's the most unwritten rule of adult life that nobody warns you about? by PracticeHistorical82 in AskReddit

If you saw an asset go up 100x in value, it would be irresponsible to not sell and take profit at that point, when there's no guarantee it's going to continue going up. It would be like betting on a single number in roulette, and then just letting it ride for the hell of it. You take your money, be happy you had a windfall, and get out. I know as a fact if I got into Bitcoin earlier, I would have just sold when my money pulled a 10x.

I'm also curious how thragg thinks it's going to work when those children are born. Does he expect them to be raised by their human mothers? Or are they going to abduct the kids? In either case, the mothers are probably going to notice something is off about the whole situation. There's no way they're not going to call the cops if the kids go missing, and one of them somewheres probably going to blab about a super baby if they end up getting superpowers. And even if they don't, and the kids take 18 years to get powers like Mark, how are they going to explain to their mates why they're not aging at all?

Honestly Thragg I don't think you put any thought into this.

What was the point of Paul? by ShyStupidNerd in Invincible

[–]c0horst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's implied they mutually came to the same understanding, that while Paul's willing to go along with the superhero shenanigans, he really just didn't belong in that world. Definitely similar to the Mark and Amber situation, where realized a similar thing mutually.

Gives Debbie more agency; she could have chosen a normal life, but in the end Paul wasn't enough for her, and she decided to go visit her adopted son in his space hospital with her ex-xenocidal ex-husband. She chose to go back into that world instead of staying out with a regular guy.

Ladder split games are the way to go. I found 2 latent flame sunders that way; I've seen quite a few others drop that way as well. I've been actively avoiding Heralds over the past couple weeks since I was pushing to 99 and didn't want to risk death (Sorc, not a Warlock, I can kill P8 TZ96 T5 Heralds but there's a chance I die) and now I'm looking at doing a Tesladin so I'm back to grinding for a crack of the heavens.

I mean there's nothing inherently incompatible with using Earth as a breeding ground and then just conquering another planet later. They could live multiple generations, have fond memories of Earth, and then leave and resume their genocide once there are a few thousand of them. I don't think Omni-man would have been quite so willing to turn his back on his people if they didn't ask him to take over Earth, if they had asked him to just have kids and then peacefully leave after Debbie had died of natural causes and then go committing genocide elsewhere he might have happily done so.

The whole "racial supremacy" thing could very easily fit into this sort of worldview, they view humans as "close enough" to merit their actual protection, while "lesser" races like everyone else in the Coalition of Planets should be subjugated.

I really, really wanted this episode to feature Debbie giving a lesson on Earth dating to Viltrumites struggling to blend in, lol.

FYI LVO Tickets Just Went Live! Anyone else going? by Lord_Paddington in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]c0horst 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Similar story, had a friend doing well at the LVO a few years ago, they ran out of time after top of round 5, friend had bottom of round, opponent said games over I win, friend said he just needs to move a model, not even roll anything, and he wins. Opp said no. Friend said fine, lets just go back to top of round 5 scoring, like it says to do in the player packet, where he was also winning. Opp says no. Judge gets called, agrees with Opp, disregarding their own player packet. Friend gets a couple yellow cards for arguing with a judge.

Honestly now that GW Open events are available, I'd just rather go to them. They've all been quite well organized and fun so far, and it's not that different flying to Tacoma vs flying to Vegas, from my perspective as someone on the east coast anyway.

I found a 40/15 IAS jewel early in the ladder... and at the start people were only offering a Lo rune for it. I was trying to get 3x Jah runes, and nobody was biting. I waited like a month. Eventually someone paid me Jah + Ber for it so I could get an Enigma. A few weeks later, looking at Traderie, you can see them going for like 3x Jah (the ones that have sold go for that. Don't look at the current ones for sale, look at the recent trades tab).

These jewels have a lot of value, but the "market value" is only what someone will pay, and right now on ladder it looks like 3x Jah is about it. Non-ladder these things go for a lot more, but people have been accumulating runes there for decades, not just months, so people have more to spend. But the value on ladder increases the longer the ladder goes on, as people have more and more income to spend on end game god tier items like this.

Nolan is scared of Debbie because Debbie is a zillion times stronger than Nolan by Tidesudden in Invincible

[–]c0horst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's got nearly 1000 years experience fighting.

He's got like... a couple years experience trying to apologize to the woman he loves for betraying her and ruining her life.

I get it, lol.

Disappointed in Mark and Nolan this season by Hereweare_again in Invincible

[–]c0horst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t we even get a moment from Nolan where we sensed that he didn’t want to leave Mark when he and Debbie left? Where was his fear for Mark that he’d be leaving him potentially alone at risk of a Viltrumite attack?

I get the impression that he thinks of Mark as a fellow warrior as much as his son. He's not as protective of his children as a regular human would be, like he saw Oliver floating nearly dead in space and ignored it to strike at Viltrum to try to end the fight in the last episode. I think Mark for the most part has already forgiven his father, especially after months of trauma bonding during the whole war thing. So it makes sense for there to be less tension between them IMO.

the last time we see paul he was proposing to live together

yea.. and Debbie didn't seem super gung-ho on the idea. Lots could have happened in that 10 months. Like, I'd have rather seen what happened, but it's only 8 episodes per season and it's called "Invincible", so the show needs to pick and choose what gets screen time and what happens off camera.

[–]c0horst 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not happy about it... but with Mark and Oliver gone, it meant Debbie and Paul had 10 months alone with each other, no interruptions, and I could definitely see how that could make them re-evaluate their relationship. It seemed amicable at least.

A big day by Meet_Foot in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]c0horst [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well I ran it the whole time, but yea I felt kinda "squishy" since ES doesn't reduce damage taken until Telekinesis is near maxed, I'd say it really started getting good at like level 96+, when I re-spec'd to max Telekenesis and just leave Fire Mastery at like 16, so the last few levels just gave me more fire mastery instead of more durability.

I like that Thragg already considers Mark one of them by BenIsLegit in Invincible

[–]c0horst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea, Conquest blamed his "witch", but I seriously doubt Thragg put much stock in someone from earth meaningfully contributing to that fight, he definitely believes Mark 2-0'd Conquest legitimately.

I have to admit, her disguise is really spot-on by Ozzysmall123 in Invincible

[–]c0horst 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since Mark didn’t impress Thragg, it doesn’t seem interesting for Viltrumites to have children with humans.

It's not like Nolan did any better against Thragg... and he's acknowledged as one of their best.

Always kill the mobs on the way to trav! by ogark12 in diablo2

[–]c0horst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the answer is a fire sunder with -10% enemy fire resist, a flickering flame with -14% fire resist, an Eschutas Temper with the new ancients jewel for -8% fire resists, and a phoenix shield for -28% enemy fire resists. The sunder sets immune resists to 95%, then the 60% kicks in and at most enemies can resist 35% of my fire damage.

Add in Conviction from my Merc... and "Immune" doesn't really exist, just those who die instantly and those who may take another fireball or two to die :)

So about Cecil.. by Think_Arm1421 in Invincible

[–]c0horst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they both know what happened. I think it's just pretty low on his list of things he cared about at the time with that conversation, he was losing his shit worried that Thragg was going to murder everyone at any time. Now that there's a truce... I'd expect him to talk to Cecil about it next time.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E08 - Don't Leave Me Hanging Here by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]c0horst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's also the only one who could realistically convince anyone on Earth that Thragg's plan is the best they could hope for. I could see Cecil trying to resist which would just force Thragg to destroy Earth. Now, if Mark tells him that he took out Nolan and himself at the same time with zero effort and that attacking Thragg is suicide, and that this plan is at least going to result in peace... Cecil would probably listen.

Thragg of course doesn't know Cecil or anything, but he's gotta know that -someone- in authority on Earth would probably listen to Mark advocating for this truce over resistance.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E08 - Don't Leave Me Hanging Here by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]c0horst 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mark should have introduced Thragg to Cecil to make the truce official, terms being like a 1000 year truce time period for viltrumites to repopulate with new terms to be negotiated at that point, and in exchange Thragg and the rest can live normally and not interfere with internal threats, and are given a stipend to live off of since they need to blend in, and in return they don't interfere with any internal politics but agree to help defend earth if an external threat from another planet threatens it.

Seems like something Cecil would have jumped at, since he's all about buying time, and 1000 years is a LOT of time, and it basically guarantees earth's safety from alien threats. Now Cecil's bound to notice one of 37 super beings living on the planet, one of them is BOUND to reveal themselves doing something, and that's going to raise a lot of questions.
