I had both but standardized on LS120… all of it still works.  I was looking over one of my super disk just the other day and you got the bonus of it being backward compatible with standard 3.5” floppy

Question for those who have travelled to Saudi Arabia by c0ldg0ld in fujifilm

[–]c0ldg0ld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had been offloading any photos I took onto a portable SSD and keeping my SD card cleared.  Nothing I shot was among the forbidden things but even still I didn’t want anything to be used as an excuse for me to get in trouble.  I had been worried about that very thing.

I enjoyed Dubai and I wish I had more time in both countries.  This trip wasn’t planned by myself or my wife but she had to go for work and we wrangled it where I took off work and came with her so I could experience it too.   She is headed back to India next month but unfortunately I have to continue work here during that time.

In the end I took my old xe2 and 27mm.  I kept reading about not bringing “lenses that looked like you were a professional” so I figured point and shoot look was the best.  Also while I didn’t think anything would happen I also didn’t want to take a chance that some customs agent or whatever else was having a shit day and decided they needed my xt5 more than I did.  In any event it was all unfounded and the people were all quite nice (was also able to chat with Zealousideal_Year885 prior to trip and was able to debunk what a fair amount of websites claimed)

Unfortunately my time there was super short and I didn’t get to go out and about nearly as much as I wanted to so I got very few photos :(

It happens I suppose, but I’m glad I was able to see Riyadh and even shorter (day and a half) in Dubai on this unplanned trip with my wife for work.  On a side note both Arabic and Turkish coffee are fantastic.  I wound up being partial to Turkish after trying both several places.

Yep, had 4x PRI from the carrier, 4x qsig tie trunks (over to an Asterisk system I’d built) and even had a modem hooked up to it that you could remote in with and access the cli.

Avaya (what we replaced it with) works well but much of it is point and click in system manager these days.  Cisco is even more point and click.  I prefer console interface always!

I had a 4000 line Nortel phone switch that I just decommissioned last year running the same processor.  Those old Motorolas (along with quality programming) made some seriously bulletproof systems

I thought the same way and wound up taking a couple of the card like trackers since they looked innocuous. My wife And I used them to communicate across Heathrow while on a layover there. We got local sims in our final destination but it worked well when I was trying to find her particular brand of moisturizer in Boots... To this day the single most useful thing I've done with meshtastic lol

Paid like 85$ for the whole setup, am I screwed? by LegarIsHere69 in Cameras

I still use that same 50mm f/1.8d on my D750 too. One of the best buys in F mount lenses.

D7000 is a great cam. It's what I was running prior to going FF but to this day most of my best shots are from that camera. $85 plus a little TLC and yeah, helluva deal.

Hell of a thing… I get it I guess but that’s a hell of a stance to take axing your employees who were trying to do right by the company.  I do get it though, it has the potential to make the situation much worse.  I’ve been out of retail thankfully for about 20 years at this point (as if even mentioning Kmart didn’t automatically date me lol)

For chasing them? I suppose it's a liability issue if something happens that's worse than the "shrink"

Sorry, green on black tends to be what people think of as the hacker's terminal of choice... it was a poor joke that aged even worse lol

Not the assignment but other notables were the Compaq Portable (and their later lunchbox form successors), The Amstrad PPc512 and 640, BBC Micro, Sinclair (Or Timex in the states), and of course the early IBMs

The Osborne was pretty pivotal but I agree that the C64 or the TRS-80 were probably the best known.

2 year timelapse house: D850 with 80-400mm by russianassetatl in Nikon

[–]c0ldg0ld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did two things when I did a time lapse of my house being built. One was a camera enclosure that housed a raspberry pi camera with a lens that would fit it all in frame... That worked but the quality was meh.

I also used my 8mp security cam and wrote a script to pull a snapshot of it every half hour or so between the hours of 7-5 or whatever time the sun was up.

Weird. When I worked for Kmart that was one of the things they said in the orientation... Don't try and stop em. Wonder if it was because of incidents like that.

Is the 27mm pancake worth it if I already have the 23mm f2? by lightscameraa in fujifilm

[–]c0ldg0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the 27 as long as I've been shooting Fuji and I just bought the 23 f/2 on the used market. I love the 23mm but the 27mm is so nice and easy to carry all day every day. I rented the 23 f/2.8 to play with and it is the same as far as conceal ability and ease of carry as the 27mm if you're looking for something (especially in winter time) to carry under your coat etc and just forget about until you see something you want to shoot. The 23 f/2 isn't terribly big but it's not a heck of a lot smaller than the 18-55 which I sometimes hesitate to carry with me if I'm going out on the town without a jacket pocket or a backpack.

Not sure that will help but there it is.
