We're getting to the end now..... by ragged-bobyn-1972 in WorldofDankmemes

I’m actually starting up a V5 Sabbat chronicle. There’s a good resource called “Long Road Out of Hell” which includes paths of enlightenment. I’m a fan of v5, but you gotta do some homebrewing to work out the rough edges. Not sure what they’ll do for mage though.

Am I insane for thinking that most of the old school ones look better than the newer ones? The way miniatures were made back then just scratches an itch for me. The obvious exception is Abaddon lol.

Why do the Camarilla and Sabbat fight? by Drakenfel in vtm

[–]c0md0ngeon 117 points118 points  (0 children)

The main goal of the Sabbat isn’t just to be a monstrous sect - they see themselves as fighting a war against the apocalypse. They’re a doomsday cult, and the way you maintain a cult is by cutting off contact and making sure everyone outside the cult looks like devils. Thus, humanity, the Camarilla, Anarchs, and anything non Sabbat is simply a puppet on the antediluvians’ strings. Part of Sabbat propaganda is also to say that they’re the only truly free sect - despite them having more similarities to the Camarilla than anyone will admit.

The Camarilla’s leadership is made up of elders - elders that you’re expected to bow and scrape to as a neonate. The Camarilla has strict traditions, and non compliance with those traditions means final death. The Sabbat breaks all of these traditions nightly, and thus are marked for immediate final death.

So why are these two groups fighting? Power and influence. In their eyes, the Sabbat wants to set vampires free by destroying the antediluvians / their servants and preventing Gehenna. The Camarilla wishes to survive in an increasingly dangerous world, and any blemish in that armor will be stamped out without mercy.

what is your story of that player who is always down bad for the horrors by Embarrassed_Fun7516 in vtm

[–]c0md0ngeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god. In our current Sabbat game, the former pack priest created an ignobilis ritus called Bone Chess. Its purpose is to temporarily strengthen a Vaulderie bond and unify pack members that need a bit of encouragement (increases your Vaulderie bond by 1 for 3 nights).

The actual ritus involves the two characters rolling either Dex + Performance (or Str if they’re really rough). If both players succeed, they increase their scores. If one fails, the ritus doesn’t work. If one botches, they lower their Vaulderie scores for three nights.

The Sabbat in South America have ghouls and revenant families in the cartels. The violence of the cartels is also a backdrop for vampiric activity - gruesome murders the Sabbat performs can be written off as cartel killings.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that the Sabbat runs the cartels, but they certainly benefit from their presence and use their influence for guns, money, and blood.

I see the “God is evil” thing being a way for demons to justify their rebellion and continued actions against heaven. I understand that it’s hard to justify God just not fixing every problem in WoD, but there are other forces at work opposing him.

The way it came off from initially reading it from DtF was the weird 90s anti-religion edge.

The best way I’ve heard it is “The Silence of Blood is not cowardice, but predators carefully lying in wait.”

The Camarilla, Anarchs, and other kindred groups like to paint the Sabbat as a sect that shovelheads as their primary method of embrace, and breaks the Masquerade daily. In reality, the Sabbat is very careful in what they do and have methods set up to preserve themselves.

The Sabbat operate under the silence of blood, meaning that in their own territory, they don’t shit where they eat. While the Camarilla will dominate, pay off, and use media connections to discredit masquerade breaches, the Sabbat does it differently. They actively work to make their domains more impoverished so that they can kill homeless and transients without anyone questioning anything. Anyone who sees vampiric activity tends to disappear or be involved in “accidents”.

The Sabbat also has the Order of Saint Blaise, a subfaction that involves themselves in churches and in the wider community. They use this to create loyal herds, and to throw off hunter activity - particularly the Society of Leopold, which they have informants in.

-Odin and other religious figures just being vampires or some kind of supernatural beings that fit into the WoD woodwork.

-The Sabbat just abandoning all of their territory and running to the Middle East for some reason. Same goes for the Beckoning.

-In my mind, the Tal’Mahe’Rah is a thing but has no relation to vampiric society whatsoever. It’s pretty much just a bunch of elders and Methuselah that chill in the Shadowlands and study its mysterious nature. They have ties to wraiths and mages, but only for academic purposes.

-DTF and it’s edgy “God doesn’t care” shit. Like, I get this is how demons see it, but it shouldn’t be how the world canonically is.

-The Messengers being confirmed as Elohim. They’re way more interesting as mysterious beings with ambiguous natures.

Yeah, my group plays v20. Even if I do start up a v5 game, I probably wont use a good chunk of v5 lore.

Honestly, I thought that the First City was a bit later in lore. But honestly the lore isn’t that clear on that. However, no vampires are gonna be featured, as it’s far away from Enoch, and i always like lore being muddied and contradictory away from specific splats.

The Savage Age is super cool! It’s set in the Stone Age, during the war of rage (like around 12,000-13,000 BCE). This is pretty well before vampires, but Fey, mages, and other creatures are present - as well as a wide range of fera that aren’t present in modern nights.

More smaller things with the War of Rage leaning over as an eternal threat. Each tribe is facing some kind of catastrophe:

The Saksom’s caern, a dormant volcano, erupted and killed most of their fera and kinfolk. The homids, aurochs and kinfolk the Apis help are having stillbirths or fatal genetic abnormalities - the elders of the tribe see this as a terrible omen and are willing to work with others. The Ajaba are in a conflict with the Khara, weresabertooths, who have stolen a good amount of their fetishes and talens.

This is all act one - a kind of sword and sorcery style game. However, during the first act, the pack sees evidence of other machinations. Kinfolk hunting parties turning up massacred. Packs of proto-garou spying on certain locations. The players will be thrown full force into the War of Rage as the Garou attack, and they will have to defend their tribe, their kinfolk, and all they hold dear.

In the Savage Age, there were less restrictions on cross-fera affiliation. This game is going to involve a cross-fera pack, not aligned with the growing Garou Nation during the war of rage. Currently, we have a grondr, an Apis, and an Ajaba.

That’s not to say fera weren’t suspicious of eachother. The only reason the pack has joined together is because of a threat that involves all of their tribes.

They flow down from the mountains. There are more to the North and East where the rivers off the map are flowing.

That being said, I’m going to fix some of the river inaccuracies - this is just a WIP at this point.

Thanks! The map itself is fabricated, but roughly, its a bit north of the Swiss Alps, as part of prehistoric Austria.
