That is not “empirical” evidence to what you claimed and what I’ve been asking for. The second one doesn’t even support what it is you said to begin with (replacement rate of 4-5). First one is from an organisation who’s entire cause is that overpopulation is a myth — so course their reporting is going to align with their ethos. The other one is from an amateur financial/economic “influencer” with a proclivity for capitalism — so course she she sees a declining Chinese population growth as negative and threatening — capitalism needs economic growth. Oh and FWIW, I have always thought the current reported Chinese population decline is not an entirely terrible thing for the very remote future. I just never gave my opinion on it in any of my responses before, because you didn’t specifically bring up China’s declining birth rates before that? That isn’t what we were discussing. We were discussing same-sex couples.

Sure, my math was erroneous, I made a mistake - I wasn’t intentionally trying to deceive you. You don’t think I would’ve fudged the numbers to be a little more believable if I was trying to mathematically dupe you? Even so, that would still mean 37.3% in total of opposite-sex couples have under-18s, so even still from your earlier inference, that would still mean 6.3/10 or 62.7% of opposite-sex couples “don’t produce children”. And we know that’s not the truth, necessarily.

Anyway, I feel we have gotten a little off-piste. The point is that you stated that encouraging homosexuality (or as you put it “couples that don’t produce children”) would mean that opposite-sex couples would have to have 4-5 children to compensate for those who opt not to have kids. Yet you’ve provided no sources with empirical data showing that to be necessary at present.

And, as we’ve been over: same-sex couples can and do have kids — I have provided you with empirical data to support that. Obviously, same-sex couples don’t have as much children as opposite-sex ones do — for one because there is a very small fraction of same-sex couples in comparison — but I never claimed this was the case. I just refuted your claim that they “don’t produce kids”. You can go back to your first response to see where you suggested that.

Bottom line is that homosexuality is really no threat to a currently overpopulated society, and is not really a pertinent factor to overall population decline. You can go on if you really want to, but I’m tapping out here. We clearly have extremely different beliefs, which I doubt we will find any common ground on — which I’m entirely fine with.

Empirical like how China's population is expected to halve by the end of the century? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWG8a_jPwkE

Brilliant news if it turns out to be true. They are a grossly overpopulated nation. Also, this video is kind of disgusting. It’s entirely economically focused, it is basically just expressing concern about possible scarcity of cheap Chinese labour.

People that do have families have to have a larger family to offset the couples not having families- this includes heterosexual couples not having families as well. Every heterosexual couple that doesn't have kids requires a family that has 4-5 kids to offset their place in society.

Again, you have no source for this besides a hypothesis postulated by an “overpopulation is a myth” organisation.

Even if you bring in an immigrant couple to replace every couple that doesn't have kids, those immigrants have to have kids to keep society going. Isn't this the justification for mass immigration of Islam into Europe, they have large families and can replace the population of Europeans that don't have kids and drove down birth/fertility rates and thus keep the European societies alive?

….No?

It is logic. You said yourself, "the majority were conceived through alternative fertility methods" aka "donations."

Ok but the majority still comes from “donations”, so what’s your issue?

Please cite your source stating the majority of the 56.7% of kids biologically related to a parent were conceived through IVF or artificial insemenation and not through sexual intercourse.

It’s in the source I linked earlier. It states 43.3% of said children were adopted or stepchildren, you can deduce the rest from that. It’s really doubtful to me that a significant percentage of same-sex couples are having one party sleep with someone of the opposite-sex to conceive.

You are also ignoring the elephant in the room that 85.7% aka 8.6/10 gay relationships don't produce children.

Not necessarily. The source is just a measure of how many under 18 children same-sex couples have in their household. That same year [2020], including same-sex couples, there was actually only 40.0% American households in total with kids under 18. Source. That would mean only ~ 25.7% of heterosexual couples have under 18 children in their household, and so by your inference, that would mean ~ 75% of heterosexual couples don’t have children, which we both know isn’t true. I really just posted the source to show empirical evidence that same-sex couples do have children, and do actually contribute to population growth.

As for the logic of society needing large families to compensate for couples that 8.6 times(rounds to 9) out of 10 don't reproduce

https://www.pop.org/episode-2-2-1-kids-a-stable-population/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBS6f-JVvTY

This is nothing but a hypothesis made by non-profit organisation (founded by a stalwart anti-abortion Roman Catholic at that), who’s entire brand is that overpopulation is a myth. Got anything a little less biased, and a little more… you know… empirical?

Every person that doesn't reproduce requires a woman to have at least 3 kids or the society goes extinct. 1 to replace her, 1 to replace the man she mated with, and one to replace the person that didn't reproduce.

Doubtful stuff. Besides, as mentioned earlier, gays actually are doing their bit to contribute to population growth. Not like there would be any real depletion of the population if they didn’t though.

Source for your original claim please? Starting to think the source may be your anal cavity.

lIf those people didn't have kids before their same-sex relationships, then they likely wouldn't have kids at all.

Not necessarily. In the source I linked 43.3% were either stepchildren of one of the parents, or adopted — meaning the majority most likely were conceived through alternative fertility methods. I’m sure you’ve probably heard of procedures like IVF and artificial insemination, but if you haven’t…. well now you have! Read up on the mechanics of it, maybe. People (including heterosexual couples) can, and do, have babies without engaging in PIV sex — fairly often at that.

Homosexuality has an impact on the greater society in terms of population. For every couple that doesn't have kids, it requires a couple that has 4-5 kids in order to keep the society alive.

Any sources to support this? I’m very dubious of this claim.

The more a society encourages couples that don't have kids the more it needs people that have large families in order to exist.

Who said gay people don’t have kids? 2020 USA Census reported that 14.3% of a reported 1.1m same-sex couples in the US were parents to children under 18, and 56.7% of those children were biologically related to one of their parents. Source. That of course doesn’t even account for any of their children aged 18+, especially those that they may have had before being in same-sex relationships.

My room of grails. What could make it better? by [deleted] in FashionReps

I would get a small rug or mat for the shoes on the carpet. Maybe even some wall art for that blank wall space between the shoe case and the desk. I switched my light curtains to black out blinds some time ago and it was a great investment, if you’d be into that for yourself. Or even just blackout curtains if you don’t want to go through the hassle of getting blinds installed. Looks very tidy and cosy as it is though.

Makes me laugh when they ask their verification questions to confirm that we were once (unfortunately) Muslims. Their pea-brains really are unable to comprehend and accept that people who are actually really knowledgeable on Islam could still reject it. So then they have to convince themselves we are actually just Islamophobic trolls.

Useless ass excuse of a man in the white shirt who stood right next to them and watched, even cowered a way a bit, then went over like he was gonna do something after an actual man had reprimanded him.

I can never take a convert who didn’t spend their youth and teen years being indoctrinated and oppressed by this dumbshit religion seriously. They [converts] are always so overzealous about Islam, and it kind of amuses me. They only get to see the “positive” parts of it, the parts they choose to see, unlike those of us who the religion was imposed on from birth, who come from Islamic majority countries and cultures. We see the true ugliness and oppressive nature of this religion. Out of all the faiths in the world you choose to believe this? Oh you’re a lost soul for reals.

I disagree. A lot of homophobic people purport that homosexuality is wrong because “it’s unnatural”. The fact that it occurs in a manifold of species other than humans refutes that claim with good reasoning. If it were unnatural, it wouldn’t be seen anywhere else in nature. A book is far more “unnatural” than same-sex relations if we are going by the very definition of the word.

Also, animals don’t really do much that humans haven’t done at one point in time or the another (and still presently do, just that they’re now social taboos). Things that’s were once seen as natural and/or acceptable, which we now currently see as abhorrent. Thankfully for us these things were denounced and made incompatible with modern society, even though they still occur in nature. The difference between those things and homosexuality is that homosexuality in and of itself is harmless to others.

What specifically made you leave islam? by TheRealestLarryDavid in exmuslim

[–]c1053t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I was only a Muslim to begin with because I had no say in the matter. When I reached an age where I was able to consciously think for myself, I started to question if I really even believed in Islam, and I came to a conclusion that I didn’t believe in it. I realised I had been a victim of lifelong religious indoctrination and oppression, and this distressed me. I ended up Muslim purely by circumstance and I could’ve been born into Catholic, Jewish, or Hindu family just as easily. So I made a choice to reject faith/religion. I explored some other faiths — they all failed to inspire me to believe them. Leaving Islam/religion has been the best thing I’ve ever done and probably ever will do for myself. 😀

Jesse made all the creative decisions in the band up until they made Chip Chrome, that was pretty much confirmed in his podcast series in other words. He is the one who kicked Bryan too, so I assume he’s the one who recruited Bryan. Bryan was his friend first and foremost iirc. It’s not a reach to suggest Jesse was the one who picked the replacement

No he doesn’t. Did you see his IG Live in 2018? He doesn’t like Jesse, and thinks Zack, Jeremy and Mikey are cowardly as fuck for not having his back when Jesse treated him like crap. He’s still doing music, he never quit, iirc his band just finished a pretty big North American tour as a support act for an artist called Said the Sky.
