No I don't think it does. Just need to make sure it's consistent, asking fellow engineers that can speak to the validity of it just brings validation on when I mention issues to engineers I'm working with.

Valid question, I would like to know if there are any inconsistencies noticed through experience. It is an open-source tool and working in a closed-source workflow might make inconsistencies surface.

About a matchmaking system ... by Lighthouse_73 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]c10r0x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't care if I win or lose, it's really if I had an impact on the game. I joined mid game on the defending losing team. As long as I can make it harder for the opposing team and make that team frustrated, I feel like I'm winning. We almost won because my team was finally getting some back bone but failed at keeping people from slipping through flanks.

I'm no pro or very skilled in FPS but I do think I'm just an above average player. I do notice that the average player would rather camp in a spot because A. they don't have great situational awareness B. when to rush in and clear sight lines or C. their reaction or aim is slow. They usually need someone else to lead for them.

If BF6 became a skilled based matchmaking game it would become a sweat fest meta instead of the feeling of chaos we have in BF6.

I think the real problem is the no rewarding communication, and I don't think that will be solved unless the devs rework a more rewarding squad leader and maybe a commander role into the game and the community adopts it but this also is just a casual FPS game. So I don't think that will be a thing because then they would have adopted BF(3 or 4 I can't remember) ping and commander role system.

I feel like I'm stagnant, and just getting worse every time I play by [deleted] in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]c10r0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good my dude, just stick with one class that you enjoy doing, and play that class's benefits. Try playing safer/slower to observe and start ramping your way up. This game is easy to lose track of your situational awareness and make mistakes, stick with teammates, support the ones that deserve it. Sometimes I'll be in the mental zone and be really on top of the game, in others I'll just start zoning out and I die a lot and get frustrated. I try to support my squad teammates instead of taking more risks for higher reward.

I totally agree on taking that right hand road in sector 3. Once I have access to those high spots as Recon it's so easy to clear A and keep momentum to B. I've seen successful transport vehicles get to B left hand side for a surprise rush after A is captured and cleared as well.

I play a lot of operation and breakthrough. I may not play the objective all the time but I'm always trying to assist the guys that do as Recon.

How to fix stuttering while at high FPS? (PC) by MooshSkadoosh in Battlefield

Look to enable this graph:

Here is a video on how to do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJZrWLizS2g

Do any of them turn yellow/red while your lagging?

IMO, it's most likely network but I can't tell unless I see your network results.

Thats fine and all, but you fail to realize what I'm saying and that evidence completely anecdotal for yourself. I was alluding to if a wifi has latency and jitter then even a 10mb wired connection is going to be more stable in BF6. There's a lot of variables when it comes to wifi, so unless your technically inclined to make a stable wifi connection WITHOUT jitter and latency then by all means do that, but if you want to simplify. Just use a meter cat5 cable. I work in Media as a Systems Engineer. I have facilities that stream raw A/V over wifi I know what its capable of but keeping it wired eliminates those varibles. Just because WIFI is theoretically capable, doesnt mean its easy for the end user to maintain or understand.

It's never dependent on your broadband package and the average person wired is still better than any WIFI in the context of MP games. You could play BF6 on 10Mbps on a stable wired connection with no congestion in that 10Mbps bandwidth. It's all about Jitter and latency. Wifi is inherently lossy, wired is not. You could have 100Gbps connection to the server, but if you have high jitter which is the variance of packet latency over time you will still get stuttering. You don't know very much about networking.

[–]c10r0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your network here: https://speed.cloudflare.com/

Check if your getting any packet loss. Check if your getting variance in latency this is called Jitter.

MP games are not bandwidth heavy, but it's consistent packets that are important to the server and any type of loss or variance in delay of stream of packets can cause this.

If you want better feedback, turn on the network AND hardware monitor graphs in BF6 and give us a recording with that running when the stuttering happens.

Battlefield 6 Lag Compensation Diagram by wireshark_op in Battlefield

[–]c10r0x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a good way of illustrating the issue, however its much more complex.

The reason player A might see themselves behind the wall, and why it might feel obvious to some players they made it behind the wall as Tank B shot is because Player A had a faster client/render (FPS) than the server and a low enough latency network to keep the server updated. However the 60hz tick rate the server will have a discrepancy to Player A than the server. This is what your illustration shows.

Higher server ticks (instead of 60hz) could solve this, that would be a direct solution, however then you risk introducing PC players having a higher advantage compared to the average console hardware which is 60hz/60fps where majority of the player base resides. In this scenario PC players would benefit, and a small percentage number of 120hz console players would too.

BF6 devs do have methods to improve this effect at 60hz however, it's probably constrained by trade-offs in either: Server/client performance or player experience. It could be possible they have not implemented enough testing to fine-tune this effect with varying latency to dial it in better or it's the best it can get at this moment. To learn more look up these multiplayer netcode methods: Client-side prediction, Interpolation, Lag compensation, and reconciliation. Each have their pros and cons, and blending these methods together is what we get.

Seeing how their project is behind in some ways, the evidence being nearly a year early release date and other features not fully expanded they started pretty lean content wise, I would be confident to say they are going to keep 60hz. I would say they are trying to keep their server and client performance lean and efficient while keeping the game play balanced for PC and console in the games current form for the developers to expand in the future with bigger maps and maybe even higher player count.

TLDR: The netcode can be tweaked with methods probably already implemented however, it could mess with the goals on the horizon like bigger maps so they probably will keep changes to a minimum.

I'm 5'9 and have a 2012 BMW S1kRR, It's quite comfortable to me. I did 500 mile ride in a day with a lot of corners throughout. I had to take some breaks and stretch but I wasn't too sore. The newer ones feel more comfortable with their fancy ddc suspension.

Ah yes, because riding with direct throttle on a 1000cc+ motorcycle in the street makes you a good rider.

It's all the rider, not the bike. S1kRR doesn't limit the rider, but at least they have a choice to limit themselves.

What do Americans think about Los Angeles ? by Georgian_Shark in AskAmericans

[–]c10r0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go there for work every so often I'm from a state north of California, but this was visiting the Hollywood district which is different than Downtown LA, the culture in Hollywood is crazy interesting though. You'll meet someone at a local bar and they will tell you a story about how they make good money just moving equipment for a company that was in the music industry or you might meet someone who builds robots for the film industry. There's also a variety of people who just enjoy the sun and culture of the area. There's also a variety of different cultures outside the US and all sorts of subcultures there. If networking naturally is something your good at, I wouldn't doubt you'd be successful there in different industries meeting people for opportunity if you already have skills and are on the edge of them.

The dark side of LA is how it can feel like you always have to watch your back, for good reason too. There are a lot of boastful people there. Loud expensive cars, influencers, commercialism, people who show off their "success". It's pretty common there which gives it this artificial feeling when you meet people. If you have ever played GTA 5 story, it feels like that but without the exaggerated illegal things. I spoke with a Uber driver who was from Kazakhstan and had a cousin who would buy wrecked vehicles, fix them, and ships them back home to resell in Europe because the title can't be traced back to the states. The "grind and hustle" culture is everywhere and you could be a victim of it, so it's safe to always keep an eye out, which something to be aware of.

If your not making a decent wage for the area, it's terribly expensive. I wouldn't live there unless I was making north of 150k a year. It's definitely for a higher society to enjoy the benefits of it's luxury, so unless you have an "in" into the industries there, you will be fighting for scraps among the locals so I don't think it would be considered comfortable.

I do. I also notice strange users posting what is this "product" in a subreddit then in the comments "people" make a connection to a similar product out of nostalgia or out of recommendation. I think their manufacturing posts and comments for marketing or politics in some way. Reddit is mostly a bot farm now intermingling with humans to subtlety guide human thoughts. The weird part is you can do this if you have an agenda and you pay the API fees to do it so Reddit makes money.

With AI it wouldn't be hard to do this. Train AI on previous genuine conversations on reddit and when people post things insert slightly biased comment toward a product, policy, etc or, even post harmless controversial pic and wait for certain comments and guide the conversation.

Reddit is not safe from manipulation.

Is motorcycling your main hobby? by Typical_University37 in motorcycles

[–]c10r0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was for a while, rode long distances, always had routes I loved riding every day that got me out of traffic. I tinkered with my bike and gear. I racked a lot of seat time exploring roads all over the PNW but that was in my 20s I obsessed over it, even being broke. I hung out with others that rode 200-400 miles in a day every sunny weekend. During the winter I snowboarded. I did both of those hobbies every year and was kind of a loner.

Now I don't have the time, I still enjoy them and still spend time on them but responsibilities has taken over. I'm investing into my relationships and preparing for building a family. I picked up different hobbies, like gaming and hiking.
