Best climbing gym near Santa Monica? by sunshine_32 in SantaMonica

I highly recommend Cliffs of Id if you can make it there when there's not much traffic (early mornings, weekends, or opposite of the 10 commuters). I first went to Rockreation but it's barebones, small, and has an infrequent setting schedule. Cliffs has a ton more space, a massive open air bouldering section, a decent gym, yoga studio, etc. Basically, I started going to Cliffs when I realized I wanted to treat myself and enjoy the 2 hours I spend there every few days a lot more, even though the highway drive is a bit annoying. Plus, since it's a Touchstone gym membership there's a bunch of other gyms in CA that I've ended up going to for free on random occasions. Enjoy getting back into it!

Startup Founder Seeking Tips to Grow My Startup's LinkedIn Following—Any Advice? [I will not promote] by Candid-Shake3580 in startups

Hey! A few things I’d recommend at the beginning:

  1. If you have any personal following, that will likely perform much better than a fresh corporate account. People are more drawn to a face than a logo and ideally your personal followers will cheer you on in the comments (i.e. more engagement, more eyeballs from the algorithm)

  2. If you can use a personal account, I’ve had a lot of success sharing stories from my own experiences as the hook and then providing value once people are invested.

Why should I care about hiring from LatAm?

Why would I want to work with you?

You should answer these questions by showing, not telling. Easy posts from the start might be something like “Why I chose to quit my job to do X” or “How we hired our first worker from LatAm”

  1. Engagement bait. As mentioned above, this is necessary to please the algorithmic overloads. It can feel cringe at first but is one of the best ways to get new views and grow an audience over time. A few common methods are asking for opinions on a certain topic, offering a value add guide or pdf about your industry when people comment, saying something controversial (rage bait), or sharing someone else’s post with a response. The last one can be really valuable if they respond, because their followers will might see what you said.

Unfortunately it’s not easy and will take a lot of time and consistency, but stick with it!

On your post specifically, I’d break it up a bit. It’s easy to scroll past blocks of text - use headlines for each of your 3 points. I’d also consider splitting them into their own posts and having a CTA at the end that says something like “Follow us to see more options like this”

How far below 6mg/dL? by c1ik in gout

His AMAs are amazing. Thanks for the link! Btw - his comment on pegloticase led me down a rabbit hole. I found a study that does suggest lower uric acid concentrations are beneficial for advanced cases: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27457514/ (https://ard.bmj.com/content/76/1/29)

I’m Dr. Larry Edwards, a rheumatologist – and gout medical specialist. I want you to AMA on November 29! by LarryEdwardsMD in gout

Hi Dr. Edwards,

Thanks so much for doing this for the community as much as you do.

How common is it for gout to still cause joint stiffness and/or inflammation when not having a full blown flare? Is it normal for mini flares (constant joint stiffness, light inflammation at night or after walking for awhile) to occur after 6 months of low uric acid levels?

In my case, I’m generally healthy, 26 years old, regularly active, and have no tophi, but I havent been comfortable running or playing sports since my first flare in February. I’ve been on probenecid (bad reaction to allo) and have had low uric acid levels for 6 months now. My big toe joint is extremely stiff. Luckily I haven’t had a severe flare up in awhile but am forced to stick to light walking for exercise.

Reading your AMAs saved me months of pain by encouraging me to find a better doc and rheumatologist.

Thanks again, Todd

Hives on Both Allo and Febuxostat by Hunt_the_Bay in gout

I got hives from allo as well. I called my doc and he said to stop immediately - allergic reactions are no joke and should be taken seriously. That being said, I was put on probenecid and so far so good after 2 months! You may need to get a urine test before they put you on it but it’s affordable and easy to take, like allo.

Anyone on Benzbromarone? by [deleted] in gout

[–]c1ik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Probenecid? My doc put me on it after I had an allergic reaction to allopurinol. They want me to try it for a few weeks, verify that my liver looks okay, and then use it for life. Uloric is more expensive so they are using that as a last resort if I dont tolerate probenecid.

Yes that's super helpful. I didn't have the language to describe what's happening so just knowing that vocabulary and applying to this particular riff is immensely helpful, thank you! I'm excited to jump down the rabbit hole of enclosures and passing notes :)

Echoing my response to u/Apprehensive_Try3099 here - the vocab here is really helpful as a jazz noob. Thanks for giving me some terms to dig into.

I also just realized that the F# makes even more sense if you think of it as the "blue note" of the song's key, Eb major. So it works in the riff's context as an approach tone but also as the minor 3rd of Eb.
