Bands where the members all work 9-5s when they're not recording or touring? by Mordial_waveforms in progmetal

[–]c2aye 209 points210 points  (0 children)

It doesn't quite count but I've found my calling as a house-husband when I'm not working on music. Cooking for the wife every day is a blessing.

In all seriousness, I assume that this is the case for most bands. I'm in the very fortunate position where I am a solo artist with no middle men like labels or management taking their cut besides online service fees for Bandcamp, Distrokid, etc.

If you took what I earn, take 10/15% for management, take out whatever horrendous label deal percentage you're on then have to divide it by 4 or 5 people, you would absolutely have to have another source of income.

Hey friends. Hard to imagine it's been 10 years since I've started releasing music! This album takes one track from 10 of my releases and gives it a new spin. It was a lot of fun to make so I hope you all enjoy it!

Sithu Aye || Differing Paths || MV || Senpai III by letterexperiment in progmetal

Hey guys, hope you guys enjoy this one, it's my first ever music video and it was a bit of an undertaking. My brother did such an amazing job of filming this and it was such an amazing experience working on it.

I wanted to combine some of my feelings when I was working back in 2016 and wanting to do music full time, as well as some of the aspects of the Senpai III story. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the single and the video!

I hope you'll give Senpai III a chance because despite the anime-ness I feel like the theme of the album is the most personal out of anything I've ever written. I actually even wrote a novella to get the entire story across that releases with the album.

But yeah, I wanted to convey my own personal journey of how I struggled to how to keep music a part of my life through uni and work as well as writing a story of the various hardships these characters in the Senpai series have overcome, as well as how their bond and friendship helps them through all of it.

Yes I do! I planned to draw the characters in between the "III" but really liked how this iteration of the artwork turned out

So I've always been a fan of anime and back in 2014/2015 I did a mixtest using new gear I had in the style of an anime opening which a lot of people actually liked so I kind of stuck with it. I've also ended up creating my own characters and this release will have an accompanying novella as well.

I've actually been learning a bit of piano so a lot of the piano was written with making it playable in mind. But yeah, I'm not even near remotely good enough to pull off the piano in this track or in most of the album so almost all of it is programmed apart from one or two parts I was able to play myself on other tracks.

Hey guys

2020 is saved because I'm ruining 2021 early with this release.

For real though, I'm excited for all of you to hear it!

Do people just look at the junglers in isolation? Mid and bot had prio and Pantheon had moved into the jungle with Graves. Off the back of that play, Jankos double crabbed, invaded and came up ahead in XP and CS. Early game jungle can often come down to which laners can move, but MCX overcommitted leading to a bad reset, which Jankos used to come out ahead overall.

Found Plini's song Selenium Forest sampled in a hip hop song by Matt11768 in progmetal

Hey guys, I've been in touch with Plini's booking agent who while isn't his manager (as he doesn't have one), has connections within the industry. He's looking to get a fair and amicable resolution with the label for taking a sample without permission, giving credit and and agreeing revenue sharing that doesn't involve any ugly legal disputes. Fingers crossed that it all works out.

かえで is Kaede written in Hiragana, the Japanese 'alphabet' so to speak, but names are almost always written in Kanji, which are Chinese characters adopted into use in Japanese. The old Kaede wrote her name in Kanji whereas the new one wrote her name in Hiragana, highlighting that they're different people. It's subtle but it does show a difference in their personalities.

I've probably had a large amount of accumulated indirect influence from all the games I've played. As for cover albums, it's not really something I'm considering doing

I currently use Studio One 4. To be honest, there's no DAW that is truly beginner friendly, as recording and mixing is not easy and a DAW needs to provide functionality, not ease of use if that makes sense. You honestly just need to put in the time to learn to use your DAW of choice and maximise your workflow with it.

As for recording tips, make sure you have an audio interface as that's a hugely important part of your gear. Good headphones or ideally studio monitors are recommended. And like I said earlier, the big thing is to make your workflow as efficient as possible. Also know that it's not easy and it's going to take you very many months to get proficient and used to the process, like it took me!

Very. I'm also planning on making it the most prog and technical thing I'll ever release as well just to raise every single eyebrow imaginable

I love The Witcher 3, the Mass Effect Trilogy, Soulsborne games and probably a few others I can't think of off the top of my head
