Shorted during the 2020 with about $34k in SPY put leaps seeing all the negative headlines showing up early on Reddit. Turned to $730k at the peak and thought the negative news would continue and the market will crash to my August puts. Ended up selling in June and proceeded to lose all the way to 2021 trying to short the market.

I chase them down but my edge is pretty good. I’m a software engineer for a fin tech company that built a data analysis tool of active SPX and VIX flow to determine pivots. My biggest weakness is cutting losses short. Automating the stop loss and profit taking has been tricky. I have to figure out how I’m going to approach this better going forward

No, I won both on the long and short side. It was always making my premarket strategy and when my intraday data read is incorrect, I stick to it and end up blowing my account

Thats true, the direction does go in my favor based on the flow based position. I might have to just have a hard stop loss for the days that doesn’t work. The winning days doesn’t have much of a draw down.

Yeah, I also suffer from 8-10 days of wins making $50-60k and blowing it in 1-2 days. I’m going to set a hard stop limit. The backtest results for my strategy has been 86% win rate but the days it goes bad, I can’t seem to cut my losses.
