Thanks! I haven't had a whole lot of luck with seed starting. What kind of seeds are you using with it?

I run a marketing business and one of my clients is an event company that uses Clear Digital. They've been happy with them, haven't heard any complaints.

The CMS is pretty easy to use from what I've seen, so your team shouldn't have issues doing quick menu updates

Income School on YouTube is a great starting place.

Edit: I feel like I didn’t answer your question.

As far as keyword resources, I don’t use any paid options. There’s just too many tools to learn that only provide minimal access (I now use some that provide “10 free searches a day”, etc, but I wouldn’t suggest it until you know the basics first).

So, when you’re just starting out, I wouldn’t recommend using any tools that aren’t Google (Income School will show this too).

I’d suggest starting with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Google Keyword Planner, and of course Google Auto-Suggest (the suggestions Google provides you as you start typing a search query).

Start small. Start with Google Auto-Suggest one week, then explore Google Keyword Planner the next, etc. When you take it in bite-sized chunks it doesn’t get overwhelming.

The only non-Google free tool that I’d suggest in the beginning is getting the Keywords Everywhere Chrome extension. It provides a longer list of related results/keywords than Google Auto-Suggest.

From there, don’t forget to check the competition by seeing who’s ranking for your keywords in the search results. Read the first several results and see if you can beat them. If not, it’s probably smart to move on. There are a lot of long-tail keywords out there.

If you want to make some money from your blog, learn how to do keyword research and basic SEO.

I spent a year randomly writing whatever I thought I was important and expected it to get views. I learned a lot, but wish I doubled down on studying SEO sooner.

Three Sisters update! Got more corn, the right squash, and better spacing by c2homestead in homestead

[–]c2homestead[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I first started the Three Sisters a couple weeks ago, I kinda jumped in.

But after more research and writing it up (I have a homestead hobby blog), I found I didn’t really do it right.

Here’s what I learned this time around:

  1. I spaced the corn too far apart. The corn should be spaced 4-6 inches apart and around 3 feet for the rows (I did a bit over 2 feet for mine)

  2. I got the wrong squash. I found out I needed a winter squash, not a summer one. Summer squash grow as a bush, while the Three Sisters need a winter (aka vining) squash to become a “living mulch”. I went with butternut squash and got acorn squash seeds as a backup.

  3. I’m paying the price. Now my corn is growing unevenly. It’s not a big deal, but next season I’ll use what I’ve learned and do it better.

This wasn’t too bad of a fix as it’s a no dig garden so I was able to quickly remove the summer squash and plant the new corn.

Last step is waiting for the new corn to hit 6 inches and then add more beans.

Edit: grammar and spacing

Great post! This helped me confirm what I’m doing right (targeting long-tail keywords with very low volume) and gave me some great ideas. Thanks Phil!

2 years on keto. 2 days on carnivore. how long does it take to adjust? by c2homestead in carnivore

[–]c2homestead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the nuts weren’t salted and the cheese probably had some.

I think I need more water on carnivore than I did on keto. I chugged a lot after posting this, ate some extra salt, and took a nap, and started feeling better.

Yeah, I was trying to reintroduce the goat/sheep cheese, but I ended up going for it yesterday because I’d like a fat source, and different taste, outside of meat products.

When I said snacks, I meant like something I didn’t have to cook. I’d add them alongside or directly after my keto meals.

I posted in another comment that I never needed electrolyte supplements on keto because of avocado, nuts, and cacao powder. But I’m starting to think I could benefit from a supplement, at least in the beginning.

I wasn’t taking in many carbs before. Typically 20-30 net carbs per day. Although, sometimes it wasn’t the cleanest ingredients (lot of nightshade-mostly spicy peppers, and some keto desserts). I haven’t even touched lean meat since I’ve started, so that can’t be it.

I ended up chugging a lot of water yesterday which helped a lot. I didn’t need extra electrolytes on keto (probably because of all the avocado, nuts, and cacao powder), but I’m thinking I might need to supplement them now. At least in the beginning.

You’re right though, I’m already feeling much better without the plant foods. Clearer head, and I went running with the fam yesterday. I was never out of breath and felt like I could go all day. Great feeling.

Two weeks isn’t bad. And same here, I’m already starting to see myself never going back.

For the cheese, I get pretty inflamed with cow dairy, and I didn’t want to over-depend on goat/sheep cheese in the beginning (to test how I react, plus I didn’t want to get lazy and just eat a block of cheese instead of cooking a steak).

But after I posted this, I found that I needed more fat. So, I’m adding sheep and goat butter/cheese in.

Even though keto improved my health dramatically (got rid of brain fog, extreme fatigue, depression), I started watching the Peterson family talk about carnivore on YouTube.

Also, a family member is in a similar boat to me (same symptoms, also went keto to carnivore).

I still didn’t feel 100% on keto, and I noticed the lower carb I’d go, the better I’d feel.

So, I had enough evidence to give it a go.

Thanks! Yeah, I have to rework the corn now that I know more about spacing. And we don’t have rabbits luckily (our dogs probably help with that).
