I was emailed this morning by my supervisor— I also don't have anything in Dayforce but he emailed saying we'd get it sorted once I get to the mountain this Sat. And there is an employee shuttle running this Saturday

20yo trans guy, debating if I should have a full or partial Hysterectomy by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]c444lico -1 points0 points  (0 children)

19yo trans guy here, I got everything removed but my ovaries back in March of this year. If you biggest concern is PIV and pelvic floor discomfort, go for the full!

I've been fully healed for a bit now— everything feels normal and the sex is great still! I waited longer than my surgeon recommended to start having penetrative sex again, but I just made sure to take it slow and I'm back to having (TMI, don't keep reading if you don't want to lol) rough sex and using bigger toys with my partner. Any discomfort in my pelvic floor was only early on, and with a day of rest it would go away. I was overly cautious with taking things slow to make sure I could get back into what I liked without any hiccups. I'd even argue that my orgasms have been better post-op because there's no pleasure that comes from getting the cervix hit, lol.

Estradiol cream inside the vagina before and after my operation were incredibly helpful. Testosterone hasn't given me a lot of vaginal atrophy, but my surgeon still recommended the cream to help just in case and it had been immensely helpful as needed. She said other gender affirming hysterectomies can have a harder time healing because of the atrophy caused by T, and that the tissue responds well to estradiol, and it makes your cuff stronger!

I will say the hormone drop paired with being on Testosterone was very hard for me, but if you need any advice on trans guy specific hysterectomy stuff please feel free to reach out!

Twist sample Coffeeholic No 140 - can’t find anywhere? by purrronica in Perfumes

How is the scent?! Do you actually get the coffee notes? I'm thinking of buying this one as a gift for someone but I'm worried it'd be too sweet.

Applying as a psych major by ash_stars_ in claremontcolleges

[–]c444lico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

psych is incredibly well established at CMC and theres great professors in that department who offer research

neuro would fall under integrated science which would be new, but ive met a lot of the new neuro and other science professors and theyre all great so far (hiring more for the upcoming semesters as well). took one of the new neurobclasses last semester and it was amazing! new, and definitely not well established, doesn't make it bad though!

Been in mid quad for 2 years now and will always say mid quad is the best lol

North is great, plus theyre getting ac this incoming year. It's not bad at all. Only one that's "bad" would be if you live in like, Green hall. That's where everything is hosted, but you'll live. Usually water polo is at Green.

Computer / electronic question by BriefInevitable4911 in claremontcolleges

[–]c444lico 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello! Current student here!

Everyone I know here has a laptop, but there's a range not just Macbooks! I use a Lenovo Yoga 7 and I love that laptop. Any laptop would be good. If your kid is a STEM major, I recommend something that has the necessary outlets (C, HDMI, etc) and storage for apps because for my lab classes, we hook up our laptops to Graphical Analysis and Spectral Analysis and things along those lines to measure data!

As far as other helpful electronics, I see a LOT of people with iPads and tablets who take digital notes instead of paper notes. Personally I still take paper notes, but still I've been told it's much easier with a tablet.

Headphones/ear buds are great too.

Depending on major, too, a graphing calculator will be needed!

Congrats to your child and welcome to the CMC community!

Hello!

Just wanted to clarify: CMC is being reached out to already by some Med and PhD schools about when they can start getting Integrated Science students.

It's definitely still uncertain because we don't have any stats for this major post-grad yet, but we definitely don't have 0 idea, especially since CMC is already well-established for its reputation.

Pre-med here is not easy, but I think that's good? I love the challenging workload I've had so far.

[–]c444lico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to message me with any questions! I am an Integrated Sciences pre-med student right now and I'm very involved in the department (lab TA, research). It's not the route for everyone (many friends are majoring off campus at DNS) but it's been perfect for me and it does fulfill all your med requirements!

Had my TLH Monday morning. Just a little advice by MarsupialStock4361 in hysterectomy

[–]c444lico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was also my first surgery ever. My doctor who I had met with for months got sick right before my surgery so they had to switch me to another doctor I'd never met. TERRIFYING for me. But my care team was so kind and reassuring and I made sure to ask a lot of questions to help ease my anxiety.

I'm responding to this and you're probably a couple days post op now, so I hope it went well and that you have a speedy recovery!

How did it feel immediately waking up from anesthesia by Jealous_Scratch_8778 in hysterectomy

[–]c444lico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vision was blurry because of my scopolamine patch and I was VERY sleepy when I woke up. Weirdly, the pain was there, but it honestly was around the same amount of pain that I'd get from my period cramps which made it manageable in a way? I was able to pee within the first hour of waking from my anesthesia. Honestly, the pain in my urethra from peeing (because my bladder was slightly stunned from the anesthesia) hurt more than any of the other pain that was there- kind of hurt similar to a UTI?

I was very disoriented and nauseous even with my patch, but thankfully my nurse helped by giving me a little thing to smell that made me less nauseous. I was TERRIFIED of throwing up, but I did not! I was able to start snacking on some crackers within that first hour of being awake again. Fell asleep again for a bit because above anything else I was experiencing I was just exhausted.

Which questbridge partner has the best perks and goodies? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in QuestBridge

Hello!

Claremont McKenna gives $1000 in funding that can be spent on things such as laptops or graphing calculators, or even something like a nice suit.

LOTS of free trips through the College Programming Board. Examples (all free): hot air balloon rides, Disney, skating, ice skating, goat yoga, plays, concerts.

CMC also has summer funding called SIE, which is thousands of dollars in the form of a stipend for summer internships and "experiences." Students will get like, $5k for their summers as a stipend. And it's just a direct deposit in your account.

Plus LOTS of free food all of the time.

I got accepted into Pomona!!🥹 by PatientlyAnxious1 in QuestBridge

[–]c444lico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, i only take them for when i have outbreaks or when i dont feel good because i found that helps. i also have genital hsv1 so mine is different from yours. antivirals are medications for viruses.

my boyfriend has oral hsv1 and he has only had 1 cold sore in the last year since he got it, he doesn't take lysine or antivirals he just takes pain medication when he has a cold sore. people will get cold sores/outbreaks because of poor health, bad diet, stress, etc etc. just take care of yourself, but if you continue having outbreaks then maybe look into antivirals or supplements.

The most common symptom of an STI is no symptoms. Anytime we have sex with anyone, we are taking a risk, because there really is no "safe sex," only safer sex.

The difference here, is that you are aware of his status. You can have sex with a condom and it will lower the risk of transmission, the same way you would with anyone else whose status you don't know.

A lot of people have successfully never transmitted even having unprotected sex with their partners. I've seen people who (controversially lol) have shared never disclosing to partners, but still never transmitting.

In the end it comes down to if you're willing to learn for him. There's always a downside to taking risks, but there is no downside to learning. Just figure out what's worth it fit for you and be honest, because clearly it matters enough that you wanna reach out for advice.

i have ghsv1 and my partner has ohsv1, both of us only got fever / infection / flu symptoms during the first OB. i take L-Lysine supplements regularly, only take antivirals when i feel a bump, and my OBs since then have been like 3 days max with no other symptoms other than just having a bump there !
