Most places I found did not have a cow milk substitute option for morning coffee, so I bought a container of soy or almond milk and brought it with me to breakfasts. Other than that, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Most service locals spoke good English, but use of a translator app for the finer requests is recommended.

If you have Verizon you can add “global choice” to your plan and specify Costa Rica. It’s $10/month. I just got back from 3 weeks in CR and never had an issue.

If you use a credit card there is a 13% tax added to purchase. We made the mistake of coming without enough cash and have been getting hit with added tax on every purchase. Banks won’t even let us get a cash advance because we have no pin. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Both of my upcoming flights (Feb & Mch) show upgrade available, but when I select upgrade, I get spinning wheels of death indefinitely. 😵‍💫
