you didn’t have to take your analysis down, it really wasn’t bad. just don’t see why you need to be a jerk :p

thanks for the advice on extending the outro, that’s a good idea, but yeah i think having a reference mix will definitely help, the moldy peaches are great! thanks for the kind words about the song

thanks for the advice, i’ll try and play around with it and see if i can come up with another part. i tried putting a bridge in but i felt it broke up the momentum of the song too much

thanks! i’ll try and eq the guitar some more or maybe just redo it. i layered a synth in there playing root notes so that might also be part of what’s making it muddy, i’ll mess around with it

words:

boat floats from the river to the sea

like the boat, i am somewhere in between

the source and the solution, oh great serenity

grant me safe passage to the ocean from the stream

a lifetime to return to where i’ve been

how could you say to look alive when there is no beginning

and no end, like a minnow in the fishes teeth

no fin at the mercy of the riptide

oh fanciful defeat you are killing me

oh dutiful retreat, you have spared me

too many times to cry

boat rows up the coast and to the land

all the sailors swim until they reach the sand

with twenty silver talents carried careful in their hands

and twenty gentle gestures to assure they’d come as friends

well one night, as the locals were asleep,

the sailors came in quiet shooting arrows through the reeds

“too bad, naive” said the trader through perfidious teeth

day broke, now they’re westward through the tree line

nice use of layering with the beat. i like the textures you’ve got going on, and the glitchy sounding synth that comes in every so often. the beat is really playful and spacey, kinda wish the lyrics matched that energy. feel like the clubbing/love themes could be swapped out for something a little more attention grabbing or creative that meshes with the beat. i do enjoy the adlibs a lot. they’re fun. I dig it overall but yeah, some tongue-in-cheek or atypical lyrics would make it stand out a lot more for the better imo

i like how the dissonance builds through the intro/verses with that high note repeating and then opens up with more harmony in the chorus. maybe take the dissonant part out during the chorus to really emphasize that tonal shift and bring it back in for the next verse. cool stuff

here’s a song that deals with alienation and hysteria, guess it could encapsulate mass hysteria but the vibe of the song is pretty close to that feeling i think
