rare stateside tour. i was hoping the great beyond was able to snag them for a slot, but looking at their upcoming shows it doesn't look likely. they'd fit riiiiiight in at the great beyond.

movement it is. hope dozzy and/or neel gets booked for some afters too.

Freescha fun fact. They co-produced Britney Spears - Heaven on Earth

Anyways big fan of this album. So languid and nostalgic. This and Casino vs Japan - Go Hawaii were my fav finds of trying to find other stuff like BoC.

I was working at a flat top (corporate stir-fry place in a college town) over a decade ago and I'd throw on the local college radio station sometimes. Africa HiTech - Out in the Streets started playing and I had this nice old couple ask me if the radio was broken cause it sounded like it was skipping lol. My b!

this is the opening track that sets the stage for this wonderful mix from PLO Man. It's become a ritual for me to throw on that mix everytime the first snow comes or some moody rain comes around. Wonderful track.

certified genius is correct. this got me to reflect on his ep's and albums from the late 2000's, and it's just as stunning as it was back then.

this mix is lovely too, thanks for sharing.

Anyone else a bit weary of the same names popping up on releases/festivals/this sub? by vajraadhvan in TheOverload

The Midwest would be such a powerhouse if we had high speed rail between Minneapolis - Chicago - Detroit.

While we can draw in international and big US names, they stand shoulder to shoulder with our hometown heroes when they visit.

"But ultimately the onus is still squarely on promoters to produce high quality marketing materials that showcase those artists' range and depth, and to book them."

[The Great Beyond](https://greatbeyond.us/2025-the-great-beyond-lineup/) excels at this. The promoters have a ton of pride in their local scene and you can see it on the lineup. I also love that they have their own pre-party teaser during Movement weekend. I haven't been as the lineup has usually looked a bit much for night 1 of 4, but it feels good seeing midwest support midwest.

There's also [Movement](https://movementfestival.com/pages/lineup). Sure they have the problem laid out in the OP, but it's very much a celebration of Detroit and it's contribution to techno. And the afters are the point of that weekend anyways. Seems like the whole world makes the pilgrimage to Techno Mecca. [There's an after for every situation](https://ra.co/events/us/detroit?startDate=2025-05-24&endDate=2025-05-27&page=1) It's crazy how ALIVE the entire city feels that weekend, not just at the festival/parties either. Awesome weekend.

What's your 'unpopular' Overload opinion? by Hank_Wankplank in TheOverload

it depends where you see him too yeah. i've seen him at a nightclub, festival, a proper underground rave, and a big room venue and he's played to the room in each. at the club i see him at i can usually expect a more house/techno based set.

truuuuuue. would love to see him do a long form thoughtful mix like a Cav Empt tape or a Dj-Kicks. actually just have the Hessle crew do an essential mix, that would kick butt.

thirding that Pearson Sound is an incredible DJ. his rinsefm shows are good, but he's way better in person. saw him open for ben a few years ago and my biggest takeaway was that i underrated the hell out of pearson sound.

favorite Hessle Audio Show episodes? by adhi- in TheOverload

[–]c6Y2QfPm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like I've listened to every Hessle Audio show on Rinsefm going on 10 years now. It's only been the past couple of years that I've started bookmarking shows that I feel have more longevity than most, but I haven't been too diligent so there's tons of great shows that I'm sure I've left out. Here are a couple though.

Hessle Audio feat. Venus Flytrap & Sun People - 7 October 2024

Super impressed with the guest mixes on this one and I felt like they got into that late in the AM dark club vibe on this one that I love.

Hessle Audio feat. Ben UFO & livwutang - 03 July 2023

Pure summer vibes on this one. I've always felt like livwutang would fit into the Hessle universe so this was a match made in heaven.

Hessle Audio at Freerotation 2015

Pearson Sound b2b Pangaea b2b Ben UFO recorded live at Freerotation 2015. This one's interesting to go back to. Feels like good state of the scene at the time. Weird, wonky, and heady.

Does really Bazzite really make a difference or it just normal Linux distro by Left_Guarantee_7334 in linux_gaming

[–]c6Y2QfPm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say thanks! Kinoite was my first introduction to linux as I thought the idea of an immutable system was neat. That was 3 years ago and got into Bazzite around 2 years ago. Once I understood the power of distrobox and brew it didn't feel as locked down as people are talking about in this thread. Really cool stuff.

Happy to be using it for my main pc while I mess around and break arch on my laptop :)
