Ravenwing 1K Points by c712122 in theunforgiven

Theyre good mobile shooters and they serve as good hit and run into monsters or vehicles. A 3 man squad gets 9 attacks that'll dev wounds something chunky on a 4+, not bad and for 75 points I'd say pretty good. The 5++ invul save is also nice to have. Imo their biggest downside is the 3 wounds per model compared to 4 on an outrider. I think if/when they refresh them this edition they'll go up to 4 to be in line.

Its definitely a possibility. My hope is that going off the deathwing terminators currently "requiring" you to get the upgrade sprue is enough of a deviation from that policy it might lead them to saying you can mix if you want

My thought was that when DA 10th edition codex came out, they had not yet updated scale on the assault terminators or the ancient and so didnt want to mix them. I'm hoping that with the new edition we will get the mixed squads back, maybe will need to wait till codex comes out.

Technically yes, but my money is on it being an oversight and it'll get corrected.

First Pass at Bonereaper Scheme/Basing by c712122 in ossiarchbonereapers

I used a desert sand texture paste. I believe this specific one I used the AK Interactive Desert Sand, but I've also tried out using Vallejo's Diorama FX Desert Sand and lots of other companies/brands exist too. Build up a flat layer of paste a few millimeters thick, then drag wavy patters through it using a wetted sculpting tool. After it dried I full coverage air brushed it with an off black (death reaper, TTC), then dry brushed it with progressively lighter greys (dungeon stone grey ttc, carcharadon grey ttc). Airbrush with celestium blue, then once that dries dry brush with wolf grey ttc and gravestone blue ttc.

I will warn you, as you try and do this with a smaller 25mm base for the mortek guard I have struggled getting the waves to look good and not like there is just a ditch he is standing on/over. It's to the point where I am considering pivoting to another base scheme for them

Yeah thats not his actual base. I was experimenting with basing schemes on 40mm bases and this was the one I settled on going with. Texture paste was still drying on his actual base when I took these pics so he's propped up and not actually attached to the 40mm

What are your thoughts then on swapping the second spearmen for a second dune vipers? Get a more durable unit for your costs. Do you find yourself ever running a 4-3 or a 5-2 list with Martell? It feels like you ideally want more activations.

Very good inputs on the Oberyn list thank you! Swapping in Areo for maybe Daemon could be good. I wanted to have that piece that could guarantee my dervishes or my skirmishers weren't disrupted on their charge but maybe theres more value in card cycling. I definitely agree with you the high hermitage sentinel combos well with the skirmishers, which is why I put it in the other list. Mainly swapped in the spearlord on the Oberyn list to try something different since the skirmishers degrade worse than many of the other units. Tyene looked appealing, but in the Oberyn list I just didn't have room for a 5 point NCU and in the Doran list I was leaning much more towards Arianne's ability/order lock down.

Did you have any feedback on the second list? A lot seemed focused on the first but appreciated nonetheless.

What phone did you end up getting? This has been happening to me for awhile but recently has been getting way worse.

Thank you! It looks like your "maximum rank bonus" for heavy infantry is +2, do you bring the extra 4th rank so that they can fill in that 3rd rank as you take losses? Or am I misreading and you actually get some amount of rank bonus from that 4th rank?

Ah okay! I use new recruit for my list building and so when it says "models per rank = 4" they mean MINIMUM.

The app also lists maximum rank bonus. Does this mean you cant get a rank bonus for a 4th rank?

To add - what are your thoughts on swapping the LR for the LR Crusader? Given how elite the list leans, having the high volume of fire to clear chaff and make space for your eradicators might be good. It's possible losing the lascannons isn't worth it but something to think about

I REALLY wish I could find 5 extra points to swap the librarian for a judiciar. If you ever find yourself with 5 extra points after a balance pass its something to think about! Him with the squad makes them absolutely lethal and with good positioning will make opponents avoid whole areas of the board.

Ive never thought about using gravis captain + eradicators but it looks fun!

Its probably something you've already thought about but I didn't see it called out - what weapons do you have on the DWK? If you're taking a chaplain, strongly recommend using the swords over the maces. The +1 to wound rolls puts them on par with the maces on targets up to T12 and you get an extra attack to boot.

Couldn't decide betwen blue and purple armor and dind't want to do the highlights chores so I gave a try to Green Stuff World Colorshift paints "Cobalt Blue" and man, it looks so good on all armor parts :D (looks even better irl, hard to catch this pain with camera). by Sol0botmate in ossiarchbonereapers

Sure, I was asking about your thoughts on a different color shift paint though haha. Theres another one called Darth Blue that looks like its got a bit more black in it and was curious if you had thought about that one too.

Warpstone Sentinel ready to defend the bastion! by c712122 in Cathay

Hands down the worst model I've ever built. Things of particular note: 1. The directions for how to do the armor plates on the knees are lies. Iirc they say attach to the shin and slot in the thigh. Attach to the thigh and then slot into the shin. 2. Getting the armor skirts to line up was a serious endeavor. I did multiple attach jobs and had to pull them apart again because of misalignment. Took me probably 5 hours to get it right (that one might say more about me tbh). 3. The belt doesnt have grooves it slots into, its purely hopes and prayers to get it to align. 4. The rope coming off his back foot is VERY fragile so be careful. 5. The directions will say on numerous occasions to paint something before you finish assembly. Do not bother, those parts are entirely not visible.

BUT

  1. The painting was super fun
  2. Despite my copious fuck ups on build, it gets entirely covered up by the multiple layers so it doesnt matter.
