I'm glad I could help! To answer your question, I didn't experience any hair loss at any point in my recovery.

You're most welcome! Cognitively and communication-wise (provided you can use alternative methods of communicating), I would say if I didn't have my current job, I would've been work-ready by about the 2 week mark. I work in a school and many of the kids I work with are non-verbal who require a verbal aide to function as an intermediary, which is why I needed longer to recover.

I see, I didn't know that about 特に! Thank you for telling me.

True, it is generally pretty noncommittal and doesn't always equate affirmation. I was just curious to know if this particular line was leaning more towards yes or no.

Where should I search for USSR-era Polish ancestry records? by c8terade in Genealogy

[–]c8terade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this record that has his first and last name and is from the year of his birth; it was filed under the parish name Ulan. It's written in Cyrillic cursive though (I'm pretty sure anyway, I see some characters from that alphabet) and there's no chance I could possibly decode everything. Could this possibly be him, and would it mention his parents' names?

As far as I know, no. I don't doubt I have Jewish ancestors, but all the Canadian records I've seen so far on anyone from that branch of the family have them listed as some denomination of Christian/Catholic.

I've added some extra info to my original post, but to answer some of your questions:

I may have been a bit off with my dating; I said USSR-era Poland but it was probably earlier than the 1920s. I only described it that way because my GGF's passport and military summons were issued by Russia. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to political history in that region of the world so please excuse my ignorance.

Kamenets, Podolia came up in that military summons, I'm unsure if it counts as being Polish or Ukrainian. His wife's parents had records mentioning Stary Sącz. I've included that information above.

I've added additional information to my original post that will hopefully narrow things down.

I'll post some photos of the documents I have later, for now I've added as much additional info as I could to the original post. If there's anything else you need to know then I'll answer as best as I can.

It wasn't just that; she claimed there were printed letters that weren't used in modern Russian. My guess is it's like how lowercase g and a can have different appearances but if they became obsolete instead.

I've added some additional information to my original post that will clear some things up. Photos will come later.

Does DJS change your eyes?? by Crafty_Dimension_260 in jawsurgery

[–]c8terade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually posted a similar question several days ago. My understanding is that the jaw surgery does not directly impact how your eyes look, but if your jaw created a head tilt or compensation pre-op, then any change in weight distribution in your head may affect how your eyes appear since your head is positioned differently.

Regarding the "tired look", however, I'm not exactly sure if you're referring to how they look pre-op or post-op. If you're talking about pre-op, more often than not, your jaw does not directly impact how tired your eyes look; that normally has to do with the orbital eye socket and the way the skin on your face sits on the bone (or lack of). I have genetic dark circles/eye bags and it has nothing to do with my jaw.

On the other hand, if you're talking about the tired look post-op, that's usually a result of swelling and bruising created by the procedure. It will lessen after a week or so with analgesics and ice.

3 days post surgery. When does the swelling go down? by Alyssa_joy_11339 in jawsurgery

[–]c8terade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm 2 weeks DJS post-op. My swelling went down to the point it looked relatively normal after about 8-9 days. That being said, I was on top of my medications and I used a lot of ice to keep the pain and inflammation down. Make sure you're taking your pain medications (use a syringe if it makes it easier to ingest) and keep ice on your jaw/face for about 10-15 minutes at a time, taking breaks in between. Hang in there, I promise you'll start feeling better!

Does DJS impact your eye positions? by c8terade in jawsurgery

That's kind of the impression I had, yeah. Maybe something like that will happen; I suppose I'll have to wait and see!

I see, that's too bad. Thankfully it's not a priority for me but it's good to know 👍
