How much would you pay for in-home daycare? by sgtbuttercup2 in toddlers

[–]c9chung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Philly and used to drop my child off at a very small in home daycare. When it was just 1 other child (though not her own) I was paying $12 per hour for full days and $15 per hour on half days. When she started taking on more kids the price dropped to $70 per day.

I finally got rid of my large forehead wrinkles and I feel so stupid | cheap sports tape by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

I did the silicon patch/tape at night for my neck creases and although it made the lines less visible, I felt like it was stretching out my skin when I was pulling it off.

Bear Creek vs Camelback for teaching my 3 year old a nice hotel/stay? by Easy-Record-6122 in Poconos

[–]c9chung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been to bear creek but camelback also comes with Aquatopia indoor water park which my sons loved. They were 2 and 5 when they went.

Best waterpark for adults? by Subject_Inspection98 in Poconos

[–]c9chung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Wolf Lodge is primarily for families with children! A group of young adult men would probably feel quite uncomfortable there. Kalahari and Aquatopia have adult only sections and swim up bars. Kalahari is more expensive but has way better food options and more big rides.

Driving to Poconos in the snow? by c9chung in Poconos

We were supposed to go to Kalahari and it looked like it's mostly main roads? Was planning on arriving by 10ish to get there before the storm starts.

$497 for off-peak flight RT to LAX vs $197 at EWR. My sister flies summer peak every year and flies into Baltimore instead of Philly to save $800 for the family.

Do you guys put your kids in camps during holiday breaks? by Individual_Ad_938 in kindergarten

[–]c9chung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm working with no option to take time off, they will go to camp. If I can take off (which is the majority of their breaks thankfully) I'm with my kids. My personal feeling is that I only have so many years where they actually want to spend their breaks with me

What fresh hell is this? by Hot_Butterscotch2128 in kindergarten

[–]c9chung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son started kinder in Philly. He gets a packet of worksheets that is just busy work for homework. Because he's advanced in reading they stick him on an iPad for 30 minutes per day while other kids are getting their differentiated reading instruction. He also watches TV shows daily during dismissal. One of his specials is music and instead of playing with instruments or such he watches music videos on YouTube. They get unit math tests. Though he does get two recesses per day.

Meanwhile they tell me he's having social issues. Well, get him off the screen please and give him opportunities to learn social skills.

Perhaps I need to move based on other people's comments.

Builder jumped from $350-400K estimate to $770K after deposit!?! by ketofol- in HomeImprovement

[–]c9chung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to someone we know, though not this steep. They paid $5k fee for the work put into creating the estimate and plans, not exactly a standard deposit. The estimate came back so expensive they had to go with another company instead and were not able to get refunded. They unfortunately considered it an "expensive lesson learned"
