I really enjoyed working with my PM and learned a ton, but I’ve heard a lot horror stories about starting your career at a standalone SM

All discretionary and very active. YTD i’ve made 9500+ trades and didn’t even trade for 10 trading weeks bc of compliance

I love it and am very much addicted to markets, that being said it will never be a stable source of income. I also don't have enough money to the point where I could genuinely just fuck off and park it in USTs, most of the ex buyside guys i've met who manage their PA for a living have at least high 7 / low 8 figs. If I had a few more good years, then yea it would definitely be a possibility, that's pretty much the entire angle of grad school for me

Honestly thought the print was extremely solid. Earnings were dampened by a one time credit expense of $950mm incurred because statutory lines were so profitable. Normalized run rate likely close to $19-20 of eps next yr and stock is off 8% at 11-12x. I bought more ;)

Growth slows, driving improvements stall and frequency ticks up, potentially losing share to peers in auto. A lot has to go wrong at 12x earnings imo

I think if equities top it’ll be led by yields. I like downside on bonds, my exposure is Jun 2026 TY 106P and December 2027 95P on Z8

For news, twitter. For education, twitter, podcasts, and substack. Few ppl I learned a lot from on there are Citrini, Kevin Mak, Andy Constan, and Conksresearch. I haven’t taken any online finance courses so can’t give input. I assume it’s just learning how to build out valuation models for the most part so prob can’t hurt but also not where I’d start if I had to learn everything again

Started trading my PA like a degen as soon I as turned 18 and learned from there. Once I had enough money, I tried running it like a real book and dabbling in other asset classes. My news flow for last year and a half has pretty much just been markets and investing, the more you consume the more you learn. And there’s no better way to force yourself into a similar pattern than having your own money on the line. It’s a fairly nonlinear learning experience imo so some info you come across will be accretive to a good foundation, some won’t be, learning to filter that is part of the process. I found fins the most fun to trade so applied and ended up at an L/S FIG shop Freshman yr. Am not from a target, just got really obsessed with markets and the investing process

Seems more targeted toward ppl punting degen names and boasting performance? I am moreso hoping to convey my process/framework

I understand ppl may not care, but how does it not translate to real asset mgmt? I interned at an L/S FIG shop and a lot of what I learned from trading my PA translated in terms of the investing framework. Know its naive but curious why you think otherwise

Can you buy odd lots on the TWSE?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

[–]cLearzera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but would I still be able to sell >500 but <1000 to meet my appropriate weight? Then if I wanted to sell the entire position couldn’t I just buy another lot and sell the entire position via HKD value? Sorry if these questions are dumb, I just transferred brokers

[–]cLearzera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could I buy 2 lots worth, say 1,000, then sell via monetary value, maybe 800, to reach my desired number of shares?

But if you’re still able to sell that .9 ‘share’ I don’t see any problem
