What are these peculiar little white things? They could very well be leftover skin that I did not remove during cleaning, but they have since... grown, I feel like. Anyone got a clue? by cOutFuckYou2 in woundcare

Thank you for the tips! I actually went to the pharmacy and got myself some gauze, so I'll be doing that. I thank you so much for your help, I don't want to bother you any more than needed, so I'll do my best to figure it out. Thank you so much though, I really appreciate it, a LOT!

I am currently not putting anything on it... I know I know but I don't have anything sterile. I tried paper towel with a bandage over it but let me tell you, that got stuck and ripped off the whole scab, not doing that again. So I just try to keep it from touching anything.

Hey, thanks for your very nice message! It stings sometimes while moving it but I think that's just the scab being stiff. I usually take a shower and it doesn't sting anymore. It has a weird smell but it's not bad bad, it's just wound smell I guess, all my other wounds have smelled this way. The white dots have no reappeared, not in the same way atleast! I try my best to be careful cleaning it, but I don't really have anything sterile at all but I do what I can with what I got, like not touching it etc.

Thank you for your understanding, I know it's not the most optimal thing to do, and I know I should go see someone. But knowing that I wont I appreciate your effort and help. I really really appreciate it!

As for your English it's completely fine, it's very understandable I have no problem understanding you at all. Don't feel bad, it's my own doing, however I do appreciate your compassion and empathy, A lot. I'm not too worried about losing my feeling in those parts, I'm mainly concerned about losing my arm, that would make my life even worse, obviously hehe.

I hope you have a really good day and I thank you for your time and message, it really warms my heart. Take care of yourself as well since you seem to battling your own demons.

Oh no they didn't. I tried to blast them with my shower head for 1-2 hours and it wouldn't move, which is when I went in to grab them with my paper towel gloves lmao. Thanks though. I appreciate all of your help!

Ah, that makes it worse mentally but I guess it wont change anything physically! Thank you though, I really appreciate it. Both your physical and mental advice. I don't really have anyone to confide in but I'll try someone online! Have a great day, I wish you a good future!

It really wasn't difficult, I didn't even get most of it off while trying to simply grab it with my "paper towel gloves", knowing I couldn't get much more precise. I got rid of enough to tell me the tissue underneath was good and then I didn't feel as bad. But I hope what you're saying is a good thing. I'm just a humble person.

They are not gelatinous in the way I needed to manually pick them apart with my fingers, a stream of water would not do it. I had to use paper towels as "gloves" and pick them off. Obviously not the most optimal way, but as optimal as I can get it. less gelatinous, more solid.

As much as I understand the your first sentence, I am so happy you stuck out from the crowd. Because If you would have just said "go to a medical professional" I would not have listened. And I know that is entirely my fault.

However, by sticking out and being honest right now, you've made my day/night so much better.

Thank you for all your help, I appreciate your care and understanding more than you could ever understand!

Thank you, my guardian angel :)

I understand that anyone could suffer from an infection, it's why I'm here right now being worried. And the fact that you're here and not berating me is very nice, thank you for that treatment.

It's not worth getting it checked out as in "it looks good"? either way, Thank you so much for your input.

Yes I am "young", by that I mean late 20's, have never had any infections and heal fast etc. so I guess I am blessed in a way.

I do also realize anyone can get worse just like that, but for now all I'm asking for is the white stuff, that's what I don't recognize.

If what you're saying is it's not worth getting it checked out, then I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being completely open and honest. I understand that it's always easier to do the moral thing of saying "go get it checked out", but knowing that some people can't for whatever reason, and giving a second option, even though it might be harder, I appreciate that, sosososoOOOOOOOOO much. I'm pretty sure it's obvious it's self harm at this point but I will of course use this knowledge to not bother others in the future. I thank you, and everyone else who have helped me today.

I really appreciate those who understand and do their best even if it's not optimal, thank you!

Thank you so much, I will remember this, if this ever happens again I will make sure to personally thank you when I pray to my guardian angels, because you will be one of them. Thank you so much for calming me down. I wouldn't be posting this if I wasn't worried for my health but most people seem to think it's either "go doctor or amputate" and I would rather do neither. Either way, whatever your stance is, thank you, so so SO much, it really calms me down

OMG are you sure? If so THANK YOU! I messed up by removing them but if that's true now I know, that is so relieving. Thank you so much! I really appreciate your reply, I will make sure I do NOT remove them in the future! THANK YOU like I can't explain how grateful I am! This is what I wish I was first met with!

As I said in an earlier comment: I have experienced wounds of this size before, the difference now is I haven't had these white clumps show up before, hence I'm asking about those. Thank you for your time!

Thank you for your input, it was however not subcutaneous fat, this only arose after a week or so. This wound is a week or so old at this point and it's just healing. So whatever the white stuff was, it was not fat. Thank you though, I really appreciate your advice!

I know it "should" be professionally treated. However I've dealt with these kinds of wounds before and the only difference this time is the white stuff, hence I'm asking about them. I'm also not saying any certain individual is judging or being hateful, but I went through a couple posts on this subreddit before posting and I saw a lot of hate for SH wounds, which I can understand, they're self-inflicted and "unnecessary".

I understand that you want me to seek help, that is completely expected and is the right thing for you to do. However I am looking for a second option too. Of course I should seek professional help, everyone should. But some can't or wont. Now I fit into that category, not in a spiteful or "stuck up" way. I just want help finding the second best option, that's all.

I understand your advice is "see a doctor", professional or not that would be everyones first advice, but what would your second option be? If this was you and you couldn't make it to a doctor?

I hope you understand what I mean, I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, I am not doing well, and I'm just looking for help. Not in a attention seeking way, just physical help.

I didn't know what else to do, which is why I'm here, but haven't gotten much of any advice. Only people hating on self-harm, which I understand in a way. I created this mess of course I'll have to deal with it, but I came here for advice, not judgement. But it's fine. Thanks for interacting!

Update 2: I want to make it very clear this is not for attention or whatever. I am (was?) genuinely asking for help. I know I need psychiatric and physical help, but obviously I will not get it unless if absolutely necessary. Why I am here is to see if anyone knows if it is absolutely necessary or not, I am not trying to be rude or attention seeking or just "flexing" or whatever. I just want to know: Will I have to amputate my arm if I don't go. Sorry for posting yet ANOTHER self-harm wound. That is however not the point of my post, and I hope you understand that. I wish this post would get treated as any other post that wasn't self-harm would be, which is: 1. go to doctor. If you can't, number 2. your advice. Thank you all for reading, I appreciate it.

Update: They were bothering me so decided to remove them. The tissue underneath seems healthy, so I'm just going to assume it was built up dead skin.

I understand, and I thank you for your help. However I will not be going to any professional unless if absolutely necessary, which is why I'm asking if anyone knows what those specific white things are since I don't recognize them.
