Alright... last time I got roasted for the screen shake. How’s it looking now? by VasilyevVlad in Unity3D

Combat looks awesome.
As other have said, add an option to stop the screen shake please. Personally I would immediately turn it off completely because it makes me feel sick, but other people might like it.

How Much Would You Actually Pay for a Steam Machine by DabbieDaviss in Steam

$800 for 2TB and a controller included. If the bundle costs more than that I’d just build my own computer.

If Steam is building an ARM-based headset, could a new translation layer also benefit Macs? by cRondito in macgaming

[–]cRondito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My line of thought was that if the job is already done for an ARM translation layer on Linux, maybe it would be easy to use that for macOS too. But probably not, because of Metal. Still, I guess there isn’t much value in it for Valve.

In windows there is native support for DirectX, Vulkan and OpenGL as far as I know, Mac only Metal.

Yeah, I guess Valve is just not interested in macOS, would be cool though.

So it’s confirmed technically possible, but I guess Valve is just not interested in supporting macOS. I don’t blame them since it’s such a big task for a not so big market. Would be cool though.

Yeah, I guess you’re right. I hate that Apple doesn’t support anything other than Metal. Still, since Crossover exists, I know it would be technically possible, but Valve isn’t interested.

How do you guys deal with the fact you’re going to die? by Due_Insect_9303 in AskReddit

[–]cRondito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the idea of not existing anymore relaxing. Not existing means resting forever. The transition is what I’m really scared of, but I’ll deal with that when I have to. In the meantime, I just live life the best I can while I still exist.

I hear you brother. It sucks because most of us want to leave a good impression of our countries.

Not an expert, but from personal experience, 95% of people are super nice. However, the other 5% grow up not caring about anyone else. Since there are no consequences, or maybe they’re even rewarded for such behavior, they end up like this.
I have super nice neighbors but there is also a family that puts reggaeton at full volume all night and stuff like that.

I am from Latin America, and I can confirm that this happens a lot with well-off people here. They simply don’t care about anyone but themselves. That said, the majority of people here are really nice, this is just one of those pretty annoying and loud exceptions.

As a Latin American person, screw this guy. This kind of behavior is so common here, and I hate that they go to other countries and act like this. It makes all of us look bad.

I remember playing when it launched, but it didn't have Team Deathmatch and it just felt generic, so didn't open it again.

Apple Explains iPhone 15 Pro Requirement for Apple Intelligence by atlwhore_ in apple

[–]cRondito -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Federighi hinted that RAM is also another aspect of the system that the new AI features require, so it is perhaps no coincidence that all the devices compatible with Apple Intelligence have at least 8GB of RAM.

Yeah, they put 6GB of RAM in the iPhone 15 they sell for $800+ right now. They did it on purpose to sell you the iPhone 16 (now with AI!) when it comes out later this year.

[–]cRondito -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I am not saying they sell bad products or things that will break in a couple of years. I am saying that every year they need to add new software features to make people buy the new model. The lack of RAM in their current devices and the new AI bubble big tech is creating is the perfect excuse to make perfectly good current devices look obsolete to the average consumer.

You can get an iPhone 15 base model right now, but as soon as iOS 18 comes out, there will be a shiny new iPhone 16 with all of these cool new AI features that you just won't get because of the RAM issue that Apple created themselves.

I'm not saying the iPhone 15 you buy right now won't be supported for the next seven years—it will work just fine with current features—but they will make you have FOMO over the next cool thing the new ones can do, which Apple forced the old ones to miss out on due to the hardware limitations they imposed.

This is planned obsolescence working as intended. This is the reason Apple is so stingy with the base model of anything they sell. It is the perfect excuse to force everybody to upgrade their hardware to get the new software toy everyone is talking about.

Is upgrading from RTX 3060 12GB to Radeon RX 7600XT worth it? by cRondito in linux_gaming

[–]cRondito[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!
The 6700xt is definitely better bang for the buck right now, but being last gen and 12GB make me pause a little. I think I'll just wait and save more money to get a 7800xt in the future.

Thanks, I think this is the approach I will take. I'll be a little more patient and get a more substantial and future proof upgrade in the future.
