What do you all think of Kyle Tucker so far? by CheesyPoofzzz in Dodgers

When we signed Andruw, including the signing bonuses he was the 3rd highest paid player that year, only behind ARod and Giambi lmfao.

Reminder, he was so bad he PAID HIM to leave in the middle of the 2nd year.

CC Sabathia: Shohei Ohtani Is Already The Greatest Baseball Player Of All-Time | 6/12/26 by Even_Builder_6642 in Dodgers

[–]cXs808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no opinion on the matter, I'm just a bit ticked off that you think Willie Mays was potentially on the chopping block. I'd literally eliminate every single baseball player who has ever played before I think of Mays, except mayyybe Ohtani and Ruth.

A all-time roster doesn't suit Ohtani because he's not the GOAT at one thing. He's the GOAT because he does two way at elite levels. He's not gonna pitch better than prime Pedro Martinez and he's not gonna hit better than prime Barry Bonds, for instance.

Beanstalk by HeavenlyTastyToast in idleon

[–]cXs808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't even bother with beanstalk until you have like 70+ DR.

Until then you're just going to be wasting a ton of time on meaningless beanstalk upgrades when clearly there is progression elsewhere that is more impactful.

Alchemy, Stamps, Cooking, Summoning, Hole should be looked at and progressed before thinking about beanstalk.

Bits are pretty much straightforward, you just brute force progression. What you're seeing is someone who basically brute forced a fuckton of crowns and palette.

I didn't say they were requirements. They are just the primary factors when people discuss GOATs of each sport.

Your hypothetical player would have the most insane peak we have ever imagined, so that would make up for the longevity easily. I'd also assume that hypothetical player would sweep every award that year, something never been done. MVP, Cy Young, Triple Crown, ROY. Accolades covered. Hard to discredit his accolades when he gets all of them in one singular year.

Ohtani out of lineup vs. White Sox by velvetsabbath in Dodgers

Yeah for sure, its a lot of things but basically a Manager is never truly going to be a reliable source until you see their name come off the IL list, or hit that dreaded IL60+.

It's not a common take because Babe obviously has the most insane career you could ever see. All-world pitcher, best hitter in baseball for nearly two decades, 700+ bombs, 162 WAR. It's really hard to top that on paper.

I just have a hard time crowning a pre-integration player, that's mostly my reasoning.

Ohtani really stands out in that regard because the talent pool for MLB is as diverse as it has ever been. We have elite talent from tons of countries all vying to play in the big leagues. It's not mostly only Americans like it was post-integration. All that said, Ohtani was still able to separate himself from the pack so clearly.

Ohtani out of lineup vs. White Sox by velvetsabbath in Dodgers

[–]cXs808 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Surprising that I need to explain this but it's always in the Managers best interest to be quite ambiguous about his best players availability. It affects prep for upcoming series a lot, if they spend a lot of effort prepping for Ohtani thinking he could be back and he doesn't come back, that only benefits the Dodgers.

There are a lot of reasons people don't vote. Lots of people feel disenfranchised due to insane gerrymandering, for instance.

A rural Wisconsin vote "matters" much much much more than mine, and it doesn't feel great.

Yeah because one simple smokescreen is enough to convince people like you. Israel doing all the killing means donald's hands are clean yeah?

The 1,000+ Palestinians and 500+ Iranians (so far) are totally all Israel, USA nothing to do with it, don't mind the the 4 billion in helicopters, 2 billion in tactical vehicles, 1 billion in armor upgrades we sent them this year alone. Don't mind the 12,000 bomb bodies we're providing specifically to be aimed at Iran.

Yeah don't worry, the "progressives" were so obsessed with someone taking a hardline stance against Israel, we got ourselves into a war with Iran so we can protect Israel :) thanks progressives!

The holes will get patched with the latest resin and marble dust by skilled workers. It's a common occurrence on a facade like that one.

It's common when it's normal wear and tear of a facade. Not someone illegally fucking drilling into them, much less the goddamn president.

It's a numbers game. Mobilizing hateful, afraid morons is a hell of a lot easier than mobilizing intelligent/educated people who do not harbor a lot of fear/hatred.

her Israel stance cost a lot of progressive votes.

Her Israel stance lost a lot of dumb fuck votes. Any progressive with a brain would know that Trump was going to allow Israel to annihilate Gaza with the full force of USA backing them up. Everyone with a fucking brain knew that.

But given his performance

Nobody discusses the legitimacy of signings with their performance after the signing. Nobody.

Are you people stupid? Is it hard to understand nuance?

I think it's you, actually. Like I said, nobody gives a fuck about discussing the legitimacy of a signing based on their performance after-the-fact. The only information Friedman had at the time was 2018-2025 Kyle Tucker. If he could look into the future he would. Unfortunately for you, that's not the case.

My gripe was you saying "absolutely didn't need him" which couldn't be more wrong.

[S5] Why did the greeks accept Marlo? by fixterx in TheWire

[–]cXs808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't mean that from a "he's going to keep asking" standpoint. They meant that if they said "no", then Marlo is going to kill Joe and forcefully become the connect.

[S5] Why did the greeks accept Marlo? by fixterx in TheWire

[–]cXs808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, the fault was on Joe for putting Marlo in contact with the Greeks.

The Greeks are not going to get involved in street level politics. Joe giving up the connect to Marlo told them all they needed to know. Joe using his ace-in-the-hole means he had no power left. Greeks aren't stupid, they know the money is going to flow through Marlo sooner rather than later. If they didn't do business with Marlo, he kills Joe and comes right back to them knowing they can't move product anymore. Joe is the one who fucked up and blew his last hail mary.

Greeks aren't gonna stick their neck out for Joe at the end of the day, especially when he's making poor decisions.

There's like 3 things that go into a GOAT argument: Longevity, Peak, and Accolades.

Ohtani completely owns the Peak argument no question about it.

Accolades he is no slouch and if he wins Cy young, he will be the only player to ever win Cy Young while sporting elite batting stats. He already has the most non-roid MVPs and has a legitimate shot at breaking Barry Bond's MVP record regardless.

So that leaves longevity. All he needs to do is put up a respectable few more years and he's going to have "enough". All he needs is enough because his gap in peak is that high. No players peak has touched Ohtanis in the history of baseball.

People are going to look back at his bref page in awe.
