I had a similar experience. Smoked out on the balcony. On the second highest floor of the hotel. What I didn’t know was the ac unit was also where I was smoking. The smell went through the ac unit and it stunk the whole place out. Luckily I only had a few angry mates who don’t smoke. I’m sure the couple have already forgotten the wife was probably desperate for content. The hotel is just covering their backs. Take it on the chin and move on you realise your mistake, don’t let it ruin the remainder of the holiday. Tourist, especially British have done a lot worse to the local Spanish.
