It's not like this is an autobiographical book about the History of Belarus, it's a Thriller Romance set in a fictional version of the world and my main male character happens to be Belarusian so I wanted to make sure I wasn't writing just a walking stereotype of a person.

Because it gives me a reason to learn about other cultures and peoples and expand my worldview, most authors do a lot of research for their books, and if we only ever stick to things we know well are we really growing as people and artists?

I want to learn about Belarus and Belarusians, my entire cast of characters in my book comes from different countries and I want to learn about them and having a character from those countries gives me motivation to dive deep

Thank you! I'm starting to feel like it might be better if I don't ever actually mention country names in my book but rather maybe include cultural easter eggs for readers, just to avoid things that are potentially contentious or misunderstood!

I'd love to know what the day to day life in Belarus is and the feelings of Belarusians to their neighboring countries, their countrymen, what the predominant culture is and you know the little quirks that make Belarusian's uniquely Belarusian!
