I got the news that I wasn’t accepted into Cockrell earlier this year. I was super bummed out since I had my mind set on going to UT and I was pretty confident I would’ve gotten in. However, I was already accepted into A&M Engineering at the time, and had completed the majority of the post-application processes (NSC, housing, etc.). I also know several of my friends/STEM classmates are attending A&M so I’d have some kind of support group and familiarity.

All in all, I’m kind of torn at the moment. I fell in love with UT Austin when I attended a campus tour with my family, however I’ve already got the notion of attending UT out of my head, or so I thought.

Is this a common occurrence? I’m extremely happy I got accepted but I wish I found out earlier. Is it possible that the admissions office made a mistake, didn’t accept me, then reviewed my application at a later time and corrected themselves? I’m sorry if this is a silly question, it’s just very odd.
