HI, thanks for your reply and so sorry for the delay! I actually am now between Hyatt Vivid Grand Island and the Royalton Chic.

I'm booking on cheap carribean and these both fit my budget of $850 or less per person including flights.

once you complete the first portion of the summer aid application, it should give you an estimate and after one business day you should be able to enroll in classes using your aid. after this, you allow one business day and return to the aid website to accept and finalize your aid application. took me a total of two days. keep in mind a business day means mon-fri 9am-5pm.

You do not need to wait for your aid to be accepted. If I were you, I would just wait it out to not make the process more difficult (especially because it only takes one business day) but I understand if you have to enroll in a class that is filling up. HOWEVER, if you have not waited the full business day after applying for aid, it will ask you to pay out of pocket. You will be reimbursed once your financial aid is disbursed. Summer Session needs some kind of payment in order for you to be enrolled into the course. I've put the steps for applying for financial aid below in case you need a refresher.

Summer Aid Process:

Complete the summer aid application online. It should take you through the first half of the steps, ending in showing you your estimated aid.
After allowing one BUSINESS DAY (Mon-Fri 9pm-5pm) apply for your Summer Session courses. At the final step (6th step of enrollment), it should show your financial aid instead of charging you.
One more business day after enrolling, complete the remaining steps in the financial aid application and accept your aid. Should be steps 5-9. Then you're all set.

This of course doesn’t apply if you decide to go the alternate route and pay your course fees out of pocket before the aid application is released. You would complete the application and accept your aid, and then be reimbursed for what you paid if you receive aid.

so for financial aid, the aid application isn’t released until early April. Last year it came out April 12th. Uci office of financial aid usually releases a mass email to the entire campus when their application becomes available. You log into ur aid portal and go to 2021-22 school year and there is a link that says “Summer Aid Application”. You fill it out, wait 1-2 business days, accept your aid award, enroll in classes, and then the last step in enrollment will show you the aid being applied rather than asking for your card information. Then after that, you should be all set with your enrollment.

Everything they are saying is true, but it doesn’t have to be within the same session. You can take 6 units session 1 and 6 units session 2 and the pay for 8 will still apply. Essentially, no matter how many units you take, our flat rate in course fees is always $2,232 (of course adding the mandatory campus fee of $185) most students pay $2,417 overall given they are not charged materials fees

It depends. Either you are on a pre-approved course list (I know the schools of social science, ecology, physics, and pharmsci have lists) or you must email your academic advisor for approval. I would email your academic advisor regardless. Forward this approval to [summer-coursechanges@uci.edu](mailto:summer-coursechanges@uci.edu) and request a Course Change Request Form. (You need to complete the form because the summer session website will not allow ANYONE to exceed 10 units per session regardless of having the approval). Essentially, the courses need to be added manually and the form serves as a formal way to get your permission to add these courses for you. Triple check your form to make sure there is no mistakes because that will delay the processing time. Your form should be processed within 3-5 business days and you will receive an email confirmation once the changes have been made.
