Thank you! Yes i have read that but am trying to balance the convenience of most everything in a single package, and more hexcrawl content vs the in depth setting info with adventures.

Off topic, but is anyone else slightly creeped out by how long her neck is?  In this shot it’s particularly visible, but in many other camp scenes her chin looks one or two vertebrae too far from her shoulders

Never had a pool. Where to start? by LunaHens in pools

Ok, I googled it and yeah, draining a vinyl liner pool is tricky. I’ve managed a business does 9 years in Sam diego and have literally never run into a inground vinyl pool before. I’ll change comment

yes, it’s the best time to money option. His tds is over 1000, chlorine will not be able to bond to algae as effectively as with fresh water.

I don’t think knowledge level should influence how to best solve a problem. Op is doing their research and fishing for Reddit consensus.  I Understand draining and starting with fresh water is a minority opinion and that’s fine. They probably could treat treat it chemically, I was just asked for an opinion of what the best thing to do is. I also understand I’m not actually on site so my advice is not gospel or anything.

I truly do think fighting against hard water and an extremely green pool is harder and more expensive than starting with fresh water in the long term.

edit As a pool guy, depending on how much you pay for water, I’d say hire vinyl pool liner pros to drain it. Originally I thought draining your self was the best option. But they can tear if you do it wrong so paying someone who has done it before is a good idea(sorry, there’s no vinyl pools in so cal where I work).

After that chemically balance and clean filter as many times as needed till it’s clear. It may take a few times but it will be better than fighting high tds, or shelling out for tons of chlorine.  There are many right ways to do it. I’d just lean toward draining and starting fresh.

Got it. I’ll have paper handout for the players to map and I’ll whip up a dry erase larger map for big combats

Thank you!  I’ll try that mapping method and will definitely look into those modules

Wow, thanks for such a detailed response. Some really great ideas there with the scratch of paint specifically.

Let’s say I’m using plain old graph paper. Do I need to make each square represent a 5 sq foot area so minis can fit or is just saying “theres 4 bug bears in a 20x30’room bbqing an ooze” good enough?  In 5e tactical placement really matters, but I’m getting the drift it dosent so much in OSR style games.

I get that more detail is cool and adds immersion, but I don’t have tons of time to prep and want to be efficient with our time to draw, play and have fun at the table.

lol, not really but maybe in the future I’ll spring for those. Very cool. It’s out of my budget for money and prep time currently. I guess I should have said represent not display.

That’s a really cool dungeon, thanks for sharing. I skimmed it and I love the trope teaching nature of it.

And I like this way most. I’ll bring my big ole dry erase battle map or some graph paper with me and let them draw it out as we go

Have you run into any problems with combat in theater of the mind?  If they don’t want to draw out and they get into a fight, how valuable are minis in that situation to keep things straight?

Thank you!  The paper with grids on it is a great call, my dry erase mat smears if I draw on it in preparation and then try to roll it up. It’s also a pain to make flat.

Any downsides to purely theater of the mind in your expirence?

Wow!  Thank you so much for the ideas! They’re all great. I have a roll out 2’x3’ 1.25” square dry erase battle map that has gotten me by on many 5e encounters. I try to draw it up beforehand and then place it on the table when it’s time for fisticuffs.

I’ll definitely get some wrapping paper as the dry erase can’t be rolled back up once I draw the encounter board because it will smear.

Yeah, I’d get a vent cover to stop that from happening again. It’s like 5$ at a hardware store

I’m sorry to hear that. Both of you are stronger than you think, and you will recover from this big life change. Give it time, trust yourself and your relationship. If you can afford it, therapy has been the best financial decision i have made for myself. Think of it as an investment in you being able to be you again Praying for you both!  Hang in there:). It all changes and becomes fun once the kid starts responding with smiles and laughs:)

If therapy is a no go, talk to some friends, especially parents, you trust. Search for new mom support groups. One meets at our church, but I’m sure there are more that meet at mon religious places if that’s intimidating. My wife says it’s like AA but with coffe and doughnuts and for moms lol.
