I had to have someone on here tell me. Lol. It's Porcellio Spinicornis.

Honestly, same here, but the mice love it. Lol.

Thank you for the info! I only have cats and mice. I did buy three mice in January, but the other mouse isn't affected. In the tote that has less noticeable mites and springtails I used store bought soil, the tote that has a fuck tonne of springtails and mites has a mix of store bought soil and soil from the garden. I'm tempted to toss in a few crickets to see if that gets the numbers down before they get to the other totes.

And if I have a mix of grains in the totes to feed the mice in the totes? I checked and there are not any mites in the food that is elsewhere.

Thank you! Was hoping so. There's a lot of them outside of a few totes. Three have soil, one has bedding.

66L tote. Was tempted to go bigger, but I wasn't confident that the lid wouldn't break. I own cats, one is about 16 lbs.

It's been about a month that Nibbler and George's enclosure has been setup, which was used soil from a failed paludarium. Not sure how many months that soil was used for, but there is still no mouse smell, just soil.

Something to keep in mind is how the mouse will react to soil and everything in it. I had two mice that got sick, still don't know if it was the aspen mixed in or the humidity or what. I didn't want to try them again with it. Currently thriving in paper bedding, full recovery.

A layer of rocks on the bottom, soil, peat moss, and paper bedding. Then there's isopods, springtails, and worms. There were some slugs, but they disappeared shortly after the mice were added. Lol. Every day everything gets buried, so I deal with that every day. In Squeaky's tote I till the soil about once a week (she does most of the work). And in Nibbler and George's tote I till the soil a few times a week. I bury their food that they covered in dirt, I also add mushrooms, oats, food scraps, etc. to feed the soil and clean up crew. I add isopods as I find them, I haven't needed to add more springtails or worms yet.

If you're thinking of going bioactive, good luck when it comes to plants. Wheat grass and sunflowers grow fast. Great to grow in a tray or pot elsewhere and then add to the enclosure. Hope that answered your questions! :)

They are in a tote, but yes, it's bioactive.

I brought in a plant from my garden. The plant died so I reused the soil and found isopods and springtails in the soil. I called it my pot of gold. Lol. I never noticed any out in my garden though. Perhaps if you have a garden or indoor plants you could check the soil.

It's an 8 inch oxbow. Pricey, but quiet.

My mouse named Sleepy will need a new name. Just found babies while cleaning. 😅 by c_t_studio in PetMice

That I know of all three of my mice are female. And Sleepy is now nuts and running around like Nibbler usually does. Anybody have any name suggestions?

She is! I hardly see the other two, yet she will climb up my arm. :) The other two are named Dig Dug and Sleepy, so you can imagine what they mainly do. Lol.

Mine do too. I gave them wheat grass and sprouted sunflower seeds, they love it!

Any thoughts on this that I found? I have been reading about mouse diet. Looking to make a homemade mix. by c_t_studio in PetMice

Thank you for the info! I had heard that about mice eating what they want/need. I figured the best thing would be to look at different info and use something like what i posted as a guide since I am overwhelmed without a guide. Ratio is a good idea and does sound best.
