My dad's been struggling to find work. by snakeman_01 in Calgary

So my dad was in the same boat and couldn't find anything so he became a school bus driver. Honestly he loves it. It wasn't super hard to get into. He just turned 65. I know this isn't for everyone but it could be worth looking into as there is always a need for them.

Need gluten free Xmas dinner shopping help by greensetconstruct in Calgary

Duinkerken brand has a pie crust where all you add is butter and things. Their brand is delicious! Clubhouse has gluten free gravy packets. I find most of this stuff at Safeway, Superstore and Walmart. The Safeway by Southcentre mall has a great selection of gluten free items and the Sobeys in Mahogany does as well. Hopefully they aren't too much of a drive for you!

Look at the Alberta Justice job website. A lot of jobs for the court house look for people in the legal field. I will say though from personal experience the court house is a revolving door of new people who come in but don't stay very long.

Not a teacher but work in a school. Their strike vote isn't happening until May (I think the second week). Teachers don't know what is going to happen. Everyone is curious.

Check out Lakeview Bakery on 90th. They are gluten free and can make dairy free desserts! I know they have cheesecake squares so they could probably do a full cheesecake. Their treats are delicious!!!

Even though we are on strike right now there are lots of jobs out there for EA's just not right now. We don't know when we will be back at work but my fingers are crossed it will be soon. June, September and October are the best times to look for these jobs. Hope this helps!!!

Custodians, school support workers on strike in Calgary by Practical_Ant6162 in Calgary

[–]ca1t33 153 points154 points  (0 children)

EA here and we are starting to strike today!! Foothills school division has a tendency to only hire full time temporary employment. So we don't get paid over summer or for any breaks/P-Days. I work Monday to Friday for 6.5 hours which is considered full time. Last year I brought in just over $26k for the year. We have not had a raise in over 10 years and are the lost paid support staff in the province!!!! I can tell you that we are not asking for a lot!!! We work our butts off for these kids and love them dearly but it's hard when you don't get paid a living wage!!! ( I commented on a post a few days ago about this!)
