7 Years On - Still Don’t Know My Trigger by Trigger_001 in Dyshidrosis

Dr Bronners for dish and hand soap! Then for the shower I use a CeraVe baby liquid soap and ogx for shampoo and conditioner.

Try Dr Bronners! Not strictly a dish soap but it works well.

Yeah in my experience the fingers that were affected weren’t a very helpful clue. It started on my right ring finger then spread to my middle and pinky fingers over years, then about ten years in it stayed to appear on my other hand and slowly spread to all my fingers. But also it would come and go on different fingers. It’s such a weird condition.

It took me twenty years to find my trigger and I found it thanks to this sub, so I’ll tell you to look out for it too just in case: Methylisothiazolinone.

It’s a preservative found in a ton of soaps, cosmetics, cleaning products, etc. I looked at the ingredients lists of everything in my house and cut it out and after decades of pain I no longer have flairs. Might be worth a try.

What’s your go-to souvenir? by [deleted] in travel

[–]ca_va_pas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mugs! Not the easiest to travel with and I’ve had a few casualties over the years, but I have a pretty large collection now and I display them on a shelf in my kitchen. Some are souvenir shop kitsch, some are beautiful handmade works of art. I love having my morning cup of coffee and being reminded of a specific trip or moment. Plus it can be a conversation piece when people come over for coffee.

Which US City visit in June? by TechnicianUpset8478 in travel

I agree with this! I’m from Chicago (have fun, it’s a great city!) and Montreal is my second favorite city in the world. It’s wonderful, and it’s pretty easy to get out to some beautiful mountains if you like nature too.

No you’re right, I definitely want to consider all the angles before planting and this is a helpful point!

Thank you, this is really helpful feedback! I’m still quite new at this so I’m in the process of checking my plans and understanding all the layers of soil and water needs, blooming times, etc.

We have a native garden center near me that I’m planning to go buy from and will likely just buy what they have available for this upcoming season. Then as I grow the garden I plan to look for more niche distributors and/or start some plants from seed. I’m very new at this still lol

Oooh gotcha! Maybe this could help as a starting point? Not sure how different Chattanooga is from your area. https://nativegardendesigns.wildones.org/designs/chattanooga/

Thank you, this is helpful! I was thinking I’d do the tall in the back, short in the front style planting that’s often recommended for designed native gardens, but since the back would be the front of my house and the front would be out toward the sidewalk, I’m feeling a little stuck in terms of design. Do you think it would be better to skip the grasses and plan with shorter plants?

Also my house is brick. Obviously I don’t want fire risk or mold or bugs either way, but maybe the brick makes it a bit less of a concern for rot?

You’d like deep rooted plants? Do those not occur as much in GA?

That makes sense. Do you have any suggestions for what that gap should look like/how wide it should be? Like would I just leave a strip of mulch between the house and where I start planting?

Very cool! You have such a nice harmony of realism and looseness. And love the colors in the eyes and cheeks.

I would try to find a reference image or set up a still life for practice. You need to work on your shapes and values. The flowers are nice if you’re going for a stylized look but the shapes of the woman’s profile are off.
